Yeah, I don't get the leg-humping just because he got huge. If you want to play big minutes in this league for a long time, and play above the rim, you don't want to be too big. Injuries are inevitable.

Historic examples of big heavy guys: Shaq, Yao, Amare, etc.
Historic examples of big slender guys: Admiral, Hakeem, Kareem.

Prediction of guys who will end up getting hurt: Oden, Amare, Lebron.

I agree that having too much weight on a frame can be a bad thing for balky knees but Bynum is chiseled. His build is more Karl Malone (one hell of a durable player) than Shaq. Also, Yao's bulk is lower body. He has never been anything close to big in the upper body. Amare has never been bulky either. Before his microfracture he was a muscular player but not big for his frame. Certainly not larger in the upper body than Dream or D. Robinson.

That's alright. Getting bigger doesn't necessarily mean becoming more talented

yeah, hopefully he can't move his arms now, and that he's thrown off his game by shortening his arms...

and have any of you guys noticed the trend, when a player bulks up like that they also usually get injuries that season. not always such a good idea to bulk up, especially so quick.

Bynumania just checked into the game. 1st game action since January. And OOOMG he's BEASTING it up already

nnnaaah, actually he hit a 12 footer off a pass and scored a back to the basket And-1 turnaround on Millsap. And just got a dunk off a pass from Fisher cuz no one was paying attention scrambling for the loose ball. To me it looks like he needs to get into game shape but he's definitely the biggest guy on the court.

Chris Mihm and Bynum in the game together, along with Radmonovic. Big time length.

you all are right about the added upper body weight might slow him down and cause more knee problems. BUT, if he added the weight on proportioned and functional, as in worked on his lower body harder than his upper and actually worked on strength/agility he should probably be even better.
