What software do you use to backup DVDs? I have DVDShrink and tried it but when I went to back it up, the program told me that the DVD was copyright protected. What software do you guys use to back up and then burn any DVD?

AnyDVD works great. You can find it on the private torrent trackers.

Will these programs burn as well as backup or do they require additional programs?

DVD fab plat. I believe it's actually a re-skinned DVD Decrypter but purchased by another company. It works great for the most part. Back up to DVD or rip to a folder or convert to mobile format to fit your ipod, zune or custom PDA.

Agreed, though it should be inidcated that AnyDVD is NOT a copy program. It is to be used together with a copy program.

I recommend using AnyDVD and ClondDVD2 (both are by Slysoft)

I downloaded RipIt4Me, but I also had to have FixVTS in the same folder from where RipIt4Me runs. Also, it can do a ONE-CLICK decrypt, FixVTS, DVDShrink, and Record for you.

I have found that this combination has NEVER failed:
Download FixVTS, RipIT4Me, DVDDecrypter, and DVDShrink.
Install the latter 2. Download the first two.

Run RipIt4Me. Click 1-click rip. Have a sandwich.

If you have one of the newer ATI video cards and need to convert one file format to another or apply compression... there is a utility built into the Catalyst driver software.

I encoded 8 different 700mb-ish movies from AVI to WMV so I could play them on my Zune in about 45 minutes. I think that's pretty fast.

RipIt4Me can do the entire thing for you: find encrypted sectors (FixVTS does this) and decrypt them, rip the DVD to an 8G iso (DVDDecrypter), shrink it (DVDShrink), and record it onto the other DVD. It's called a one-click rip.

You need all those programs. At first it's complicated, but once you do it, it's fun. Sorry for the confusion, man... I know you'll get it.
