Is there a chance we might bring him over this season? He just so happens to play the position that we're really looking for, and I think that AFTER we sign the 'veteran 2/3 who can play both positions equally well, shoot and slash' that Adelman talked about then we could think about Newley as a backup to that role. Thoughts? If you have none, let me help you out a little bit: The guy is a flat out shooter, in December he nailed 8-8 from 3 point land to set a new record in the Greek A1 league (where he currently plays) He's 6'7, 205lbs Athletic Decent passer of the ball too. As I understand it, the Rockets sent him to play with Panionios, and he's been fairly impressive there. He made the 'rest of the world' team for the Greek league all-star game. I assume we're bringing him over for summer league? At the end of the day he's an athletic guy who can shoot the rock. We could find worse 3rd string SGs! Bearing in mind that he'll be on the minimum as a 2nd round pick anyway....
Yea we should bring him over the the summer league but i don't think he's available because of the boomers commitment but i still reckon he should stay in europe for 2 or 3 more years because he's still pretty raw in his skills
What does 'pretty raw in his skills' mean? You've seen him playing for Panionios I assume? When a guy can shoot, he can shoot.
Morey talked about him and Lior. He said they might come over for the summer league but probably won't be on the team this year because they are not established players yet. Said its best for them to play overseas for another year.
well he's still developing, yes he did do good in the greek league but the nba is way different in terms of mentallity and phyisicallity i just think its best for him to stay a year or two.
newley vs spanoulis in around 8 hours time. greek semi-final game 1st in a best of 5 series. if you can find a stream link for the greek channel, ET-1, it'll be broadcast there.
newley > spanoulis and I'm not even joking. I'm betting that B-New has a much more longer and relevant NBA career than V-Span had or ever will.
He may be better some day but he is not right now. Newley will be a summer league player again, and have his chance probably not this year though. DD
Yes it's going to be hard to top the legacy that is Spanoulis - who posted one of the worst seasons in Rocket history.
as far as i know ive seen him play first hand here in Australia and i can safely say that he flat out sucks
you don't know what you're on about. he may never play in the nba but he certainly did not "suck" in the nbl.
I agree, nice to see you finally getting it Sam, or are you trying to goad my as per usual. LOL - ain't gonna work chum ! DD
Pretty much every time you bring up Spanoulis, it ends up being embarrassing for you ~ not unlike his embarrassing NBA career, after which he cried his way out of the NBA....literally. so yeah -it's working ~ please respond.
He sucked in summer league last year I don't see how someone that bad last year has progressed enough to be NBA ready that quickly, give him 2 more years.
ah yeah, i would say he has some work to do. he was always a good shooter, but 8/8 from 3!! that game really shocked me.
