Has Brooks shown enough in the last 3 games to warrant some playing time? I think he has, and would like him to start taking more of the backup PG's minutes and let Bjax eat into Luthers minutes...whichever player is hot, Bjax or Luther plays more....same with Rafer, Bjax and Brooks.

What do you think, will Brooks still be playing now that Rafer is back?

If it comes down to a rotation of Rafer/BJax/Brooks vs. Rafer/BJax/Head i'll take the unit with Brooks over Head.

Its a 3 guard rotation with Alston/Jax/Head to see who plays next to McGrady/Battier.

Those are the 5 players manning the 1, 2, and 3. I think as long as Head isnt the only one of the first 3 in the game, he does allright. But when Head is in at the 1, he struggles. He has shown improvement overall in the last couple of months vs earlier in the season, but is still prone to have a head scratching few minute stretch that gets the haters out of the woodwork.

Thank goodness he is doing it less though.

I have been impressed by his finishing ability lately. He now has great plays to offset those really dumb plays.

Actually, Brooks + Head, this combination is good.

With tmac out we don't have much of a choice...

but for the playoffs...I doubt we'll see alot of him unless one of our 3 small guards are playing very badly. Its just the ways of a veteran coach. They don't want a rookie out there to limit the mistakes. He also happens to play the most intelligence driven position on the court.

The thread and the poll ask two different things, and thus, I have two different answers.

No, he won't be in the rotation.

Yes, he should be in the rotation.

Actually the poll question is the same, the comments I made after the Yes are incorrect.....

    Dang it.

    My bad.

So just answer it truthfully....YES or NO.....forget my commentary.

So i'm a "hater" because I prefer to play the younger, promising rookie versus a plateaued, one-dimensional SG in a PG body that we'll look to move in the offseason?

Sorry, I didn't realize logic makes somebody a "hater".

He'll be in the rotation. But 2 things to keep in mind:

    1) Our first round opponent will determine how much playing time he gets. If we're matched up against a team with size, then he won't get out there much. Luther Head's already gonna get abused on the defensive end, so we can't have the same with Brooks.

    2) He won't play much in crunch time. Unless he's just lighting up the other team, expect to see B-Jax in the first part of the 4th quarter and Rafer in the last few minutes.

I like Luther Head's shooting abilities but like someone said he's purely one dimensional and can occasionally drive for the easy layup when a defender falls asleep. If we want a pure shooter we already have Novak who is taller and can get easier looks for shots. Head is expendable. Brooks SHOULD be eating Head's time since he's the 'future of this team'.

I'd also like to add that Head is a terrible defender, he's almost always slow rotating to his man. Offensive threat defensive liability.

He won't necessarily be in the rotation per say, but I can see him being used as a situational player to give the team a change of pace.

You must be new here :)

With McGrady out, and our playing against a woeful Sonics squad, I think Brooks still gets PT. Rotation becomes:

    Rafer/Brooks
    Jackson/Head
    Battier/(Landry)/(Head)
    Scola/Hayes/Landry/Novak
    Deke/(Scola)

Geez, though. We've got ridiculous size issues at the 2 and 4.

DD, I'm not a fan of the wording on the question. The question is whether or not he'll be in the rotation. That implies expectation of future events. "Yes - He should be in the rotation" implies a value judgment; "No - He is still not good enough to crack the rotation" is also a value judgment.

I think that Brooks has the talent to crack the rotation. He's played well over the past few games. And when BJax or Luther can't hit shots or make things work, I think Adelman should go to Brooks. But I don't believe he will take over for BJax or Luther. Therefore, neither answer works for me.

If it was worded slightly differently...

Yes - He will be the rotation
No - He will not be in the rotation

    -or-

With Rafer returning, should Brooks remain in the rotation?
Yes - He should be in the rotation
No - He is still not good enough to crack the rotation.

See how the answers differ? I'm not sure which you were meaning here.

What's new. This always happens when tmac and/or yao is out, we realize that we have a lot of really short guys for each position.
