Based on current record and remaining schedule this is how I see the western conference bracket shaking out: (1)Lakers 58-24 vs. (8)Denver (4) SA 57-25 vs. (5) Phoenix 55-27 (2) NO 58-24 vs (7) Dallas (3) Utah 53-29 @ (6) Houston 54-28 2nd Round: Lakers vs. SA Houston vs. NO Finals: SA vs Houston San Antonio Champ I played the chalk pretty much on the regular season records. If that works out, Houston will get the best possible scenario for them in terms of matchups. I really believe they will beat Utah and NO before getting slaughtered by the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals. I didn't bother with records for Dallas, Denver, or GS as I think it won't matter which 2 make it and what their record is because they will lose to LA and NO anyway. What do you guys think?
Based on those predicted records, San Antonio would be third seed (not fourth) and Utah would be fourth. Utah would be at Phoenix and we'd play SA in the first round.
I thought the third seed would be determined by Utah winning their division, although they wouldn't get home court. Am I wrong?
The top 4 seeds in each conference are awarded to the 3 division winners and the winningest non division winner. Then they are seeded 1-4 based on record. Home court is awarded to the team with the best record regardless of seed.
Don't feel too bad. The seedings and home court advantage are a bit tricky, especially when you start getting into three-team tie breakers.
San Antonio will not win back to back book it. Houston, Pheonix or New Orleans will go to the finals. Lakers have a slight chance depending on who they have to beat.
Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 Finals 1 Hornets 8 Warriors 1 Hornets 4 Jazz 5 Rockets 5 Rockets 5 Rockets Spurs-Celtics 2 Spurs 2 Spurs 7 Mavericks 2 Spurs 3 Lakers 3 Suns 6 Suns I'm feeling optimistic about our chances today, so 'll say we go to the WCF. Spurs take the Lakers when Robert Horry hits the game-winning three in overtime of Game 7 after he and Cassell trade baskets for the last two minutes.
IMO 1-7 have a good shot at the WCF Rockets and Dallas being the least likely to make it just b/c of having no low post presence. Either way, Boston is likely going to destroy anyone they play in the finals for the next 3 years.
ok first round No vs Denver/GS(winner NO) SA vs MAV(SA) Laker vs Suns(Laker) Utah vs HOU(HOU) second round NO vs HOU(HOU) Laker vs SA(Laker) wcf HOU vs Laker(HOU) final HOU vs Cav( lol i hope lebron would killl celtic and detroit just like last year so we can beat the hell out of them)
Don't think the NBA is going to like that one. Dollar against a donut they would go nuts for a LAL v BOS matchup. (now I'm hungry)
They can't knock off Detroit or Boston, IMO. They are the 3rd best team in the east no doubt but thats not saying much...
Round 1: 1 Hornets [58-24] 8 Warriors [50-32] 2 Spurs [58-24] 7 Mavericks [53-29] 3 Lakers [55-26] 6 Suns [54-28] 5 Rockets [56-26] 4 Jazz [53-29] Round 2: 5. Rockets [56-26] 8. Warriors [50-32] 6. Suns [54-28] 7. Mavericks [53-29] WCF: 5. Rockets [56-26] 7. Mavericks [53-29] No doubt Boston comes through the East... I'll be looking forward to the Spurs/ Mavs first round clash - you can bet San Antonio want no peice of the Mavs who might have something to prove in the first round this year... And Shaq vs Kobe will overshadow Gasol's defensive ineptitude on Amare, Suns to sneak through despite some shady officiating...
