He can be used as an emergency point guard. If I recall, he did run some point guard duties for Seattle a few years ago.
Next step: buy out Francis. Even more cap flexibility and more money to use on Landry. No, I'm not on the Francis bandwagon. Btw, Houston is just a short flight from SA, I'm sure that will be repeated over to Brent from the Rockets when he's making his decision.
I still don't think we'll manage to get Barry. Of course, that obviously doesn't mean that I don't want to sign him.
Impressive...considering Morey also stole Carl Landry in the draft, maybe there is more to the Bobby Jackson move. Maybe BJ still has what it takes to be the 6th man ... of the Houston Rockets.
man i would love to see him, he could take some of luthers minutes. Barry is proven in the playoffs unlike head plus he makes smart decisions with the ball unlike head. Dont get me wrong when luthers on hes on but sometimes hes a rock head.
I doubt Morey planned the Spurs would trade for Kurt Thomas and Brent Barry would be cut by the Sonics. And I also doubt Brent Barry will sign with any team other than the Spurs.
No joke. This was an okay 3pt-shooting team before, but if we add Barry, on top of the Jackson deal, all of a sudden we have Jackson, Barry, Battier, T-Mac, Head, and the new-n-improved Rafer in the rotation. That's a lot of good bombers. And god knows Landry and Scola can stroke it from mid-range.
Daryl Morey said this yesterday: "...in the playoffs shooting becomes a premium ...coach wants to play with shooters on the floor."
I think Brent must have some sour feeling about being traded. And talking about winning another title, I think Houston has a better chance than San Antonio. Hopefully his agent can persuade him to join us.
I like the fact that we will all find out this coming Tuesday where Brent Barry will sign with since he is eligible to sign on that day. If he does not take the Rockets offer then we know he is heading to the Spurs. It will not be a surprise since the GM for the Sonics work for the Spurs and so did the coach.
