http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=280222003 From the ESPN recap of the game: Quote: "Yao scored on seemingly effortless jump hooks and short turnaround jumpers. Other times, he rotated into the paint to steal rebounds from Hornets forwards and casually lay the ball back in like an adolescent might toy with younger, shorter brothers in a driveway." There is other stuff there too about T-Mac soaring and dominating, but I just loved the whole adolescent thing. Hilarious.
do they mean Tyson Chandler? we knew YAO has been abusing T.Chandler since they were like 14-15, when they are in the NIKE camps...maybe T.Chandler has just not grown up? lol
Yao played Chandler like he was Blount today. The fact is, Yao is the best 1 on 1 center in the game today. You NEED to double him.
They knew each other since 14-15yrs old??? Damn They must've been banging chicks back then too.... Man i wish i was a baller!!!!
Well, it was a well known story to every Yao Ming fans that Big Yao was pitched against Tyson Chandler, then a 16-year-old and started to own him in the Nike High Five America 1998 training camp in San Diego, the first time Big Yao went abroad as a 18-year-old. Big Yao talked about it in his bibliography that he was sort of inspired by Tyson Chandler that he can play NBA when 3 years later, he learned that Chandler was drafted in 2001. "If he can play NBA, I can play better than him too !!"
One thing casual fans never realize in a player's value is the need to double him. Yao averages 22 ppg. But Yao single-covered is ~30ppg scorer(he didn't play his normal minutes today because of the blowout). That's why Yao's the best center in the NBA right now.
They changed it. Even they must have realized how ridiculous (even if true) it sounded. If you look you can still see a part of the quote remains, but they took the adolescent part out.
