I just started having this problem with my cpu.

It "lags" or "sticks" every few seconds. For like 5 seconds everthing will work fine, then it will freeze for like a second then freeze again, and continues.

Is this most likely a problem that I might be able to fix by DLing a new video driver off the net, or does this sound like a more serious problem.

This computer is 4.5 yrs old, and I don't like the thought of putting money into it to keep it going, because I want to get a new system within the next few months.

Any help or advice is welcome. Thanks.

1.boot to safe mode and see if it still does it.
2.reboot into DOS & run a full surface scan.

Doesn't sound like it, but have you recently installed new hardware? If so, check for IRQ conflicts.

Running Windows? You might consider a program to clean-up the registry. (Back it up first!) Buy a version that you can use later on your new system.

Might be a memory timing issue.
