why would we trade yao for kobe? if we did that, kobe would just turn around and get the mgt to trade tmac for yao.. and then yao could get the mgt to trade battier/head/francis for tmac. oh man, lets do it.. i know it will play out just like that.... imagine: yao, kobe, and tmac.. yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!
    swish........

I agree. It is just a bad matchup for Yao. He shouldn't have to guard Boozer. Not his fault that Okur can shoot 3's.

I'd never make that trade. Rockets wouldn't be Rockets without Yao, no matter if there's a Kobe or not. The whole thing just sounds hilarious.

It's a laughable proposition. The class of Yao and Battier ALONE are enough to not even consider this mockery of common sense.

There may never be a big man who is 7 feet 6 inches tall that can do all the things that Yao can do and is still capable of expanding his game even more. (shooting technical free throws is just sick for a guy that tall)

It all boils down to the classy humility and lack of an enormous ego, a simply adorable personal demeanor, a great sense of humor, and love of team (chemistry is priceless) and loyalty to country that makes Yao tall in stature in more ways than physical attributes can measure, that so FAR exceeds the Kobe Bryant personna that it would make this trade unthinkable IMO.

You throw in the marketability of Yao on an international level (I know Lebron James' jerseys outsold Yao's in China last year but LJ is more hype at this point and isn't yet ready for prime time due to a lack of a supporting cast and the D.N.C. Syndrome [Dirk Novitzki Choke Syndrome in the deep rounds of the playoffs with the exception of one breakout game in a 7 game series]), and the proposed trade is mockery of the concept of equity. Kobe can't prompt an audience of tens of millions to watch a game between his team and another mediocre NBA team at best, which more than likely surpassed the audience of the Super Bowl.

Both players are dominant at their positions with Kobe obviously being the more dominant player, but this is the only advantage that Kobe has over Yao and its not significant enough to alter a team's destiny or chemistry when the intangibles regarding Yao that are listed as a man and very upstanding human being are taken into consideration.

Lastly and perhaps more importantly, is the tendancy for Kobe to be a FGA addicted, self absorbed Orange County drama queen, who is also an impulsively indecisive, cancerous punk a$$ arrogant brat and Yao is an international superstar with class that Kobe will never even remotely approach.

Yao for Kobe? That is crazy talk. Why not trade T-Mac for Tony Parker while we are at it?

It sounds like your measure of a player is to see if he can guard Boozer. Very smart.

You are right. It is only you "think". Do you even watch bb games? Who is the player need to be doubled by every opponent when he catches ball around the basket?

People, this is getting annoying. Pls stop all these craps by comparing apple to orange...

    1) KG, Duncan, Boozer are not centers, they are PF and Yao is a Center, don't you get it.

    2) People disagree with you do not mean they are bias, maybe you are the one who is bias.

The Los Angeles lakers doesn't deserve the work ethics and business consumptions of Yao Ming.... An evenly trade for kobe to the rockets plain and simple would be Francis and Alston... And, please kill this stupid thread...
