O.J. Simpson investigated for satellite TV theft
    Reuters News Service

MIAMI - After raiding his home this week, federal investigators are building a satellite TV theft case against ex-football star O.J. Simpson, two law enforcement sources told the Miami Herald, which published the report today.

Agents from the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Agency searched Simpson's home in the Miami suburb of Kendall before dawn Tuesday, in what they said was an investigation into a suspected ecstasy ring, the newspaper said.

Agents obtained the warrant to search Simpson's home after hearing him in wiretapped conversations with suspected members of the alleged ecstasy ring, the Herald said.

Ecstasy is an illegal stimulant and hallucinogen associated with the "rave" party scene.

No ecstasy was found at Simpson's home, but agents took satellite dishes they believe were wired to receive premium television channels without paying any fees, the paper said.

"O.J. is implicated in the satellite TV software scam. We're building a case against him and others," a federal law enforcement source told the Herald.

Authorities say they do not believe Simpson, 54, was a member of the alleged ecstasy ring, the paper reported.

Simpson was catapulted into the headlines during his trial and acquittal in 1995 in the stabbing murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.

Just six weeks ago, he was acquitted by a Miami grand jury in a road rage case.

Simpson, who parlayed a spectacular career in the National Football League into a career as a sportscaster, TV pitchman and actor, was charged in 1994 with the slashing deaths of Brown and Goldman.

He was acquitted after a lengthy and widely publicized trial but was later found liable for their deaths in a civil case and ordered to pay $33 million to their families.

This really has nothing to do with OJ and more of a police blunder that has them trying to save face. I'm not saying it is right steal cable...it is illegal and so the cops can do whatever. But I doubt the penalty is anything OJ is afraid of, especially since he already got away with something else much more severe.
