ah, yeah. . . I don't have songs so much as I have albums. the following albums come with my highest recommendations when you want to get. it. on. sarah mclachlan -- fumbling toward ecstasy . . . divine. various artists -- playing by heart soundtrack . . . seems as though it was specifically made for the purpose. various artists -- badlands: a tribute to bruce springsteen's nebraska . . . probably seems like an odd pick, but it has very warm, mellow tones and is passionate. radiohead -- kid a . . . again, warm and passionate. just like hot loving relations. also, when I was in high school, I had a tape of "love songs" that I would always put in whenever I went on a date. I have many a fleshy memory connected to these songs: save a prayer -- duran duran can you stand the rain? -- new edition against all odds -- phil collins hello -- lionel richie heaven -- bryan adams I do need you -- bell biv devoe meet me half way -- kenny loggins making love out of nothing at all -- air supply purple rain -- prince the promise -- when in rome giving my all to you -- johnny gill broken hearts -- living colour I really love you girl -- bobby brown I'm gonna keep on loving you -- reo speedwagon never tear us apart -- inxs my fondest and warmest regards go out to all the girls and the breasts they let me handle.
I'll have to throw my vote behind "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak. My fiancee is also partial to any U2 song that involves Bono wailing like a girl.
Not that I would know anything about making out ... but these songs definitely put me in the mood .... 1) Janet Jackson - Anytime, Anyplace 2) Janet Jackson - The Body That Loves You 3) Janet Jackson - When We Ooo 4) Janet Jackson - Anything 5) Savage Garden - I Don't Know You Anymore 6) Sophie B Hawkins - Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover 7) Mariah Carey & Brian McKnight - Whenever You Call 8) Barry White - Practice What You Preach 9) Toni Braxton - Speaking In Tongues 10) TLC - Red Light Special 11) Billy Idol - Cradle of Love 12) Brian McKnight - Only One For Me That's all I can think off of the top of my head ... Rockit (Had a typo )
mc mark: Amen on 'Aja.' I've had to stop putting that on, because I end up telling girls about how much each song means to me, how 'Deacon Blues' is my theme song, and other pathetic talkative stuff that has them preying for "Josie" halfway through "Home at Last," if you know what I mean. Not that I do. Jeff Buckley is great. Reverend Al Green. Kind of Blue. Santana's "Caravanserai" was tops until he got hot in 1999 or so. Hartman and John Coltrane, the "Lush Life" album. A lot of Miles stuff where the piano is king, Bill Evans and Victor Feldman stuff. Otis Redding may be the tops. Just don't let the girls call the shots. For my generation, at least, you'll be hearing DMB until you feel like pulling up lame with an imagined toothache (not that I've ever done that...in the last 18 months at least).
LOL! Kelly! I know what you mean about Aja. Oh man! I forgot all about Caravanserai! Not only great "in the mood" music. But great on the head when under the psychedelic influence. At least that's what I'm told!
Bolero is a college makeout classic. You walk down the hall, you hear Bolero playing in somebody's room, you know what's going on. I'll put in a vote for Peter Gabriel's In Your Eyes.
