So because you have some infrastructure projects run incompentently we don't fund any? Its true the big dig was mismanaged but that didn't mean that it wasn't needed. While we need to deal with mismanagement that is not an excuse for doing nothing.

And if read TBar's post, Otto's post, Deckard's post, and my earlier post you would note that all of us are saying this is a problem that has existed since Reagan was president. The difference is that Reagan, GH Bush and Clinton aren't in office now. Yes they should've done something about it but they aren't in office now.

Where is the funding then to fix our infrastructure?

In case you don't realize it good infrastructure also increases tax revenues as it people can do more business when they have safe roads to drive on.

    HO! HO! HO!

And they've wasted it in Iraq, leaving us in a deeper hole, simpleton.

Doing nothing? we dumped 15 billion and counting into the pig that is Big Dig. When the original price tag was suppose to be 3 billion. Shall we put in another 15 to fix it?

So if not for the Iraq war, the tax cuts would have been great?

Have legislators brought this before the Democrat-controlled Congress? The appropriations committee? Has it been addressed at the state level? The county level? The municipal level?

Something goes wrong in the middle of Minnesota and the first instinct is the blame the President? Now that is just ignorant.

OH . .the funding is there
    but
unless haliburton or some corporation is getting the money
we not interested in using it

People are still pissed about the NEW DEAL
where FDR built the infrastructure . .. because they don't like
government doing those kind of things. .
    they
prefer the government give the money for these projects
to big corporations which over charge the sh*t out of us
and do a half *ss job of it too.

We need a NEW NEW DEAL
our pipes suck . .so our water sucks. . but the AquaFina crowd will fight that
alot of the infrastructure is outdated. . .

    but this is nothing new

So the Big Dig is a big hole what about all the other infrastructure that's failing in the country? We don't fund them because the Big Dig isn't going well....

Infrastructure failing is a fact. It takes money to fix. You can't just wish it away..

I didn't want to wade into the partisan divide as this is a problem that has spanned both Republican and Democrat Admins and Congress but since you want to play that game.

From the article I posted in this thread:

"Meanwhile, funding for improvements and maintenance continues to fall short. When Congress last passed a major highway funding bill in 2005, the Federal Highway Administration estimated it needed $375 billion to fund repair and improvement projects, but the final bill authorized just $286 billion.

On Thursday, Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., a member of the Senate Commerce Committee, said that the nation’s transportation infrastructure has been underfunded for years and that the Bush administration has threatened to veto proposals to increase funding.
    "

Now what party controlled Congress in 2005?

A corporation is simply a legal entity. Do you prefer LLC's or LP's? Sole proprietorships? You do realize that corporations come in all sizes, employ millions of people, and generate tax revenues for our country right? A corporation, in and of itself, is not some evil structure that inflicts its wrath on the populace.

But then again, I'd be shocked if you finished high school, judging by your grammar and logic, so this is all likely a wasted effort.

The blame extends to almost all levels of government and Congress and Presidents for the last couple of decades. That still doesn't mean that the current Admin. is off the hook.

It would take several vast leaps of logic to tie a 'threat' to veto a 'proposal' to this bridge collapsing. Keep it real.

FYI, Canada has several bridges in disrepair...including an overpass that just recently collasped in the Montreal region (thank God there were only a few deaths, one or two if I recall). I say this as a Canadian so y'all don't get some jaded view of Canada as a liberal paradise or something.

Also, don't be pointing fingers at the Bushes for this, **** does happen and has happened in other countries.

That said, Bush is an idiot. Just don't point fingers at him for this, there's more then enough things he's ruined so that we can keep up a steady stream of legitimate finger-pointing. Blaming overpass collapses on the Adminstration's economic policies is a bit extreme.

As opposed to willfully ignoring that lack of funding contributed to the dilapidated state of infrastructure. Yep bridges last forever..

    Keep it real indeed..

Let me ask you though. Do you believe that our infrastructure needs to be repaired and that such repairs will are going to cost a lot? How do you propose we deal with that?

Well, how many bridges can we fix/build with 15 billion dollars? The point is, even when we are funding them, it takes competent local government to manage it correctly. Maybe privatize a few would be a nice idea to try.
