When asked a question about possible problems that might come up with so many scorers on the floor at the same time James responded that the only problems are the one's for the other 29 teams in the NBA. I love it! JVG hated this kind of talk from James but I hope Adelman let's him say what he want's because with Mac, Battier and Yao being quiet leaders we need guys like James and Francis to develop this "swagger" that has been missing a little with the 2nd Baptist group we have had out there since the departure of James/Sura/Barry group.
Hell yeah, that's so true. "Oh we have too much talent and not enough basketballs" is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. You can never ever have too much talent. Besides, our talent is cheap and easily bench-able, if the need arises.
I love MJ's response. The Rockets have had a great summer and our talent level has gone up no doubt. The media wants to put a negative spin on that because negativity is what makes news. We haven't had firey players on this team since the 2005 team. It's time the Rockets regained their swagger and he belief that they can beat anyone. This new team has to go out there feeling they should win every game.
Agree 100%. I love this. We need a little fire. I think this type of attitude from MJ and SF will be just what this team needs to fire them up. TMac and Yao can do their thing and MJ and SF can be the nastyness that we need on the court. Bring it on MJ!
Im with ya! Swagger is certainly needed. Sick of always being the "Classy" team. Im not saying lets bring back the Bad Boys of the late 80's Pistons, but a little attitude would be nice. Last years team just seemed soft most of the time.
*Mike James Walks in Room* *Mike looks around at the scrub NBA teams that dare to stand in his presence* *Mike puts down his pimp cup and pulls out his "slap a hoe" powder* *Mike then proceeds to apply powder to both hands and clap them together lightly* *Mike cocks back his arm only to send it flying towards Dirk Nowitzski in full stride* *Mike says he hates David Hasslehoff* *Dirk asks why?* *Mike replies...................."CAUSE I'M MIKE JAMES BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTCH!!!!"* *Mike walks out of room with Curtis Mayfield playing in the background*
With nice guys like T-Mac and Yao, this team needed some pit bulls with swagger, there is no question. The Rockets added pitbulls: Francis, James, Bonzi, Brooks, Scola. All are fearless, firey and tough.
look at the SUN's team, they are loaded with scorers. Nash, Amare, Marion, or even R.Bell can light you up in any given night. oops, me bad, and i havn't mentioned L.Barbosa yet!
HA HA! I tend to believe he was pouting because he chose Minny over Houston and then he was replaced with a rookie whom he felt he was better than. Lets be honest, aside from Garnett, who did he think would get more shots than himself?
Because they jerked him around in and out of the lineup. Coaching change, terrible chemistry. I dont think he got a very defined role and at times looked lost out there. He looked hesitant really. He tried to get people involved but it just seemed on offense like there wasn't any flow. You could say the same about Francis actually, but he also had some knee problems that contributed.
It's hard to play basketball when you're shivering and its so cold the basketball doesn't bounce (it just thuds on the floor) and there's no difference between fingers and icicles. Yes-s-s-s-s, it's so cold in Minneapolis that ......
If a team was to have a problem, don't you think having too many good players who want to score is the best kind? I don't think MJ is going to come out saying, "Man it sucks our team is so good, and our bench could start for most NBA teams." I love Mike's attitude, and agree that is exactly what we need on this team. I don't want to get too excited because I always get my heart broken, but we are pretty damn good this year. Let's see how it plays out.
Part of it was on MJ because he opened his big mouth to the media instead of just playing basketball. He had a chip on his shoulder and it got knocked off. That's what happens when you go to a team and alienate both management and the resident superstar. They signed him to play, not yap to the press about his problems.
