Thats right i said it. He could win the Rookie of the Year award, or at least finish on the rookie first team. I see him more NBA ready than any other 4 and might get more minutes too. Heck i was the first to call for him to come here last summer. Anyways, realistically he could log 30 minutes a game for this team when Hayes is the only other option. He has all that olympic experience and whatnot. He has been considered a better prospect than both Hermann and Oberto and both of them excelled early. Looking at the draft Oden looks like he is still a few years away from making a significant Impact. Durant is the front runner. But Scola could be the best rookie 4 (and the oldest). I'm expecting 13 points 6 rebounds in about 28 minutes a game and Battier like intelligence on loose balls, hustle plays and offense sets.
Lol, by reading the title, I thought you want to trade Scola for Brandon Roy. I was about to come in to bash this thread, hehe..
ROY would be wishful thinking when you look at the depth of this draft. Rookie team could be possible though...
15/7 is more reasonable for ROY. i wouldn't mind getting that from scola and 7/7 from chuck as the back up.
yeh wen we vs portland scola is gonna posterize oden , and durant, pshht, scola our lock down man will shut him down. his good, but PUH LEEAAAASE dont throw around random crazy calls like that, its good to be optimistic and cheer for your team, as long as ur realistic... NBA POSTSEASON AWARDS Rookie of the Year Eddie Gottlieb Trophy 2006-07 - Brandon Roy, Portland 2005-06 - Chris Paul, New Orleans/Oklahoma City 2004-05 - Emeka Okafor, Charlotte 2003-04 - LeBron James, Cleveland 2002-03 - Amare Stoudemire, Phoenix 2001-02 - Pau Gasol, Memphis 2000-01 - Mike Miller, Orlando 1999-00 - Elton Brand, Chicago (tie), Steve Francis, Houston 1998-99 - Vince Carter, Toronto 1997-98 - Tim Duncan, San Antonio 1996-97 - Allen Iverson, Philadelphia the previous ROYs have basically nearly all been franchise/all-star caliber players, so move over yao and tmac, scola has come into town? scola has 0%, brooks has 0.01% so if anyone u shuold be cheering for him to get the ROY award
quit posting about brandon roy for scola replies!!! this thread is about scola being named rookie of the year or at least be named rookie 1st team.. hell yes i believe he can do that, just dont think he can do that with this year's draft depth..rookie 1st or 2nd team possibly
ROY's typically play for bad (lottery) teams. Good rookies can rack up the stats on bad teams because they really don't have any other good options. Scola will be, at best, a distant 3rd option after TMac and Yao. Plus, Rafer's gonna jack up his fair share of shots and you know James is going to get his as well. He could definitely make first team all rookie, but probably not ROY. But there are exceptions, ie. Tim Duncan.
If Scola's mid range jumpshot is effective, he definitely has a chance to put up 12 and 7. Go up to 15 (and >) and 8 (and >) and that is definitely ROY material. Unless Durant goes Michael Jordan on us in his first year...
its OK, he'll play like michael jordan against the rockets and play like mark madsen against the rest of the NBA teams
