How serious is that shoulder injury? I can't stand Yao not playing at least 70+ games in a season... :(

Nothing much happened for Big Yao on his first day back home, except friends/relatives came over to visit him at home. Sort of trying to recover from jet lag.

But he will be in Beijing for 1 day on July 3 to be honorable guest at a 400-days countdown activity for 2008 Olympics, before returning to Shanghai in the evening.

Stay tune for my coverage of his July 3rd activity in Beijing.

That sounds like a very odd statement. Has the CNT been pressuring Yao to move his wedding along so he could play?

YUP....and we called these politically correct statements. :D

But really CBA had been requesting Yao Ming to play in 3rd FIBA Stankovic Continental Cup in China July 28 ~ August 2 (featuring Angola, Slovenia, Venezuela, New Zealand and China) and to be travelling with the national team for a series of Europe tournaments (in Germany & Turkey) in August.

So there might be some behind the scene discussions that had sort of move Yao Ming's wedding up from August to July.

Yao Ming arrived Beijing the night of July 2nd.

He will take part in a series of 400 days countdown promotional activities for 2008 Olympics on July 3, before flying back to Shanghai at night.

Not sure on what particular kind of music he likes best.

But I've read he likes Backstreet Boys, and other singers like Jay Chou and David Tao.

i read somewhere that his favorite song to listen to before games was eminem's "lose yourself". this was maybe a year or two ago. that not too bad-definitley better than the backstreet boys.

when i was visiting china it was quite funny listening to the songs on some of their cell phones. By the way, china has sweet cell phones. they are so far ahead of the u.s. in the tech/gadget department.

He looks uncomfortable, but only because he is in the backseat of a tiny vehicle. Take a look at the last pic from the front of the car, he looks like he is stuck in a clown car.

Not much covered in the above article except

    • Anthony Falsone will arrive to Shanghai mid July to asist Yao Ming in his strength and conditioning exercise.
    • Yao Ming will be busy these few days in a string of promotional activities for the 2008 Olympics. He will act as a judge today (July 3) in Beijing for selection of torch bearers; he will show up in another Olympic related activity tomorrow in Shanghai in his capacity of official spokesperson for the Special Olympics. Then he will show up together with his team mate Luther Head at the opening ceremony of the Basketball Without Borders Asia 2007 on July 5th in Shanghai.
    • He will stay in Shanghai most of this month, and has yet to decide when to rejoin the national team, and whether he will play in the FIBA Stankovic Continental Cup in Guangzhou and Macau from July 28 ~ August 2.
    • And his wedding will be very private and personal, as he will not invite any of government or CBA officials, team mates from Shanghai Sharks or national team. He just wished media and fans could leave him more room/space.

Man Yao is always on the go. I wish he would get a limo to fit in, that car does not look comfortable for Yao.
