I don't think it was a bad topic or area of discussion - there's only so much to talk about in regards to the iPhone. I just thought the "on side is on the defensive" as an argument was weird (not referencing you). I think there's an argument to be made that Microsoft will have to transform itself going forward, so I think that part is actually a very interesting discussion.
I think a sign of Microsoft slowly losing its position of dominance is the fact that Dell is now offering to ship PC's with XP instead of Vista, offering Linux, and HP stopping Media Center PC's with Windows Media Version or whatever it is called. Back in its heyday, no way Microsoft would allow this to happen.
Back in the day MS only had one main system....not all these different kinds..... Which are kind of the by product of the government putting restrictions on MS and what they could put in their op systems as standard fare. DD
Keep in mind that the camera on the iPhone cannot record video, nor does it have a zoom, from what I've heard.
anyone who would buy a 600 dollar cell phone just because it exists... they are not my kind of person, to say the least you have a laptop already, you have a cell phone already, you have an ipod already....explain why you need this thing again?
Does anyone else just want one to play with for an hour? Can't wait for the price to go down. The funniest part of all of this is the hype on getting one. I see them selling for hundreds of dollars above retail when the Apple availability list says most places still have them. (Galleria Apple Store has them)
I am still pissed off that our company never got a chance to launch the Giz 2, it blew the I-Phone out of the water..... Oh well.....next time. DD
Check out the Nokia N95. It's got a 5 megapixel camera along with most of the iphone's features. It is pricey though, around 800 bucks.
Those guys would have made a fortune if they were legit.....our phone was much better than the I-phone and utilized a lot of the same technologies...only would have been out a year earlier..... And with a 5mg pixel flip phone for hand held video conferencing........ GRRRRRRR DD
They still have bazillions in cash to buy their way into another market, and it's not like Linux has leapfrogged XP or Vista in sales. Which means if anyone is compelled to upgrade after XP, it's most likely Vista. A real sign of decline would be if Google launched a free desktop program that people would use.
I'm still fine with PCs and Windows (though I have not had much time with Vista), but my next system will likely be a Mac. I haven't bought a PC since my very first; every one since I just built, so I'm real comfortable with the Windows/PC environment. I don't have a 'problem' with Windows or PCs. However, I've played with a friend's imac enough to know that I'm very interested in OS X and the mac in general. I think a lot of people - folks who are just doing basic stuff like email, web browsing, digital pictures, etc. - if they were to spend some time on a mac would probably like to use it. Does that mean MS/PCs will lose their stranglehold on marketshare? Probably not, but other than the tech heads and gamers I don't see the point -as is the case with most fanboys - in PC/Mac flamewars. Both of them can do just about the same ****.
Dayum! That sounds cool! I've seen some thing like that in Dubai about 3 years ago. We are so behind when it comes to cell phone technology.
