Lackey completely lost it there. It's good he got pulled when he did. Someone was going to get hit a lot worse than Luke did.
So for the record, Loretta allowed the Astros to score 5 runs and in the process, Lackey gets knocked out. Doesnt matter how much of a liability he is on defense, his offensive abilities far outweigh Everett's defense.
For the record, Loretta AND Lamb would still be playing tonight if Everett was still healthy. Its Ensberg... the 9 hitter... that would be replaced. But maybe having Loretta at SS channels some mystical force only known to the baseball gods, and has everybody playing at a super-high level.
Not true at all. Not since Ensberg was pulled from the lineup as an everyday player back in May. Since then, Garner was platooning Loretta and Lamb at 3B. Then, when Luke got injured, he was having Loretta at 3B, Lamb at 1B, and Lance in RF. Now, with the DH... and with Ensberg not having "regained" his job... it would have been Loretta at 3B, Lamb at 1B, Lance at DH, and Everett at SS.
Still feeling bad about having Loretta out there? He's shown some good defense tonight, and OFFENSE!!! Don't get me wrong, I like AE's defense. But I wouldn't shed a tear if he was traded.
Come on, AE isn't THAT good. Stopping 5 runs in one play? I don't think i've ever seen a team score 5 runs in one play.
Loretta was a steal in the offseason. Cant believe nobody wanted him. Bet Boston wished they had kept him instead of giving Lugo all that crazy money.
Loretta strikes again. I think Lamb and Loretta should play regularly. But let's ask Oswalt- do you want defense or offense?
Brookhaven Community College in Farmers Branch, TX, a suburb of Dallas. Lackey played at Grayson CC way back in 1997.
Right on. Lamb and Loretta have been playing fairly regularly since Ensberg was dumped from the everyday lineup. Lamb doesn't play much against lefties (although now, he's so damn hot, there's no taking him out)... but him being in a terrible slump was a HUGE reason why our offense stunk in that 11 game losing streak (just as his hot streak is a huge reason why we're scoring runs in bunches now). So... unless Ensberg starts tearing it up when he's now in the lineup against lefties (as Loretta now will play SS in that situation), or Bruntlett gets on a roll... Everett's loss is still not the direct result of this offense's (namely Loretta-Lamb's) re-assurgence.
