I just saw on www.astrosconnection.com that The Great Bill Spiers officially announced his retirement today. Most have known for a long time that his career was over, and hearing the man himself say it was a struggle to walk without pain pretty much sealed the deal this last season. But who can forget some of the great pinch hit at bats? He was always willing to play any position Larry asked of him, and he played most of them very well. A true team player, and a great guy, I honor you, Bill Spiers, and what you did for the Astros in the 5 or so seasons you were here.
just make Spiers the manager. He probably commands more respect from the players than Dierker ever did.
