This is correct....I can confirm the league has put a moratorium on black alternate jersey's. The Rockets have actually tried to get a black jersey approved, with no success. Toronto has also tried with no success. The reason is because the league feels there are too many black uniform sets in the league already and NBAPA wants to see some more creativity put forth in these sets, for marketing purposes of course. So unless they go retro, think Gray....a la the Mavs first alternate uniform set or even the Nets former alternate uniform set.
The league wont approve it......white has to be used for home sets. The lone exception...the Lakers for historical reasons of course.
Besides, all Deke would have to do is plant in the lane, and he'd intimidate everyone into staying way, way away.
I'd like to have an alternate with some yellow in it. It doesn't even have to be a real retro, just have enough yellow and Houston across the front to pay homage to the glory days.
The ROckets should get priority. There is no room for "creativity" when your team only has 2 colors. It's either grey or red. I don't think any of the grey uniforms have looked that great plus the unis for most of those teams are a little complex to begin with. The rocks current uniforms are so simple (not a bad thing) that they can't really do much to vary things around except changing the color. Black seems to make more sense for some reason than blue or yellow. WHO CARES IF THERE IS NO VARIETY IN COLOR! A cool jersey is a cool jersey. No jersey out there would look anything like the ones guys on the board have come up with.
