McGrady & Yao Named All-NBA Second Team

HOUSTON - Houston Rockets guard/forward Tracy McGrady and center Yao Ming were each named to the 2006-07 All-NBA Second Team, which was announced today by the NBA as part of the All-NBA Team announcement. This marks McGrady's second All-NBA Team honor as a member of the Rockets and the third All-NBA Team selection for Yao. This is just the second time in team history for two Rockets to be named All-NBA in the same season (1995 Third Team: Clyde Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwon).

Whoa. Who were the centers on the #1 and 2 All-NBA teams in 1995? Luc Longley?

I'm extremely pleased at the All-NBA selections. A far cry from the defensive team selections.

I'm sure some voters kept Yao off of their ballots completely due to how much time he missed during the season...

Am I missing something. Since when do they pick two guys playing the same position?

Nitwitz is the 1st team PF. Pick a damn SF. Duncan did not have a 1st Team year, certainly not worthy of slighting the SF position...umm, hellloooo, Carmelo.

They don't specify between forwards and guards.

I would be ok with TD to get the first team center, but Amare? He's doing great after the recovery. But, what has he done better than Yao Ming? Did he averaged more points? No. Rebounded more? No. Was he the focal point of Suns' offense? No. Focal point of Suns' defense? No. Was he the focal attention of Opponents' defensive plan? No. What exactly makes him a more deserving first ALL-NBA team center? Oh, yes, his FG% is higher. But the funny thing is, NOBODY thought FG% is important for center when Yao Ming had the highest FG% in past years.

Let's face it, unless Yao Ming is better than the rest with a landslide margin, he's not going to make the first team. Mark my words, they will make either Howard or Amare the first team next year. I want Yao to take that as extra motivation, work with Dream diligently in the Summer, and take his play to the next level.

Yes it is. You're a rookie though, so gotta take everything you say with a grain of salt.

Eh, Yao's injury dropped him to 2nd team.
