Because Mavericks defense is basically their big guys inside protecting the paint. They do well against the slower, half-court teams because those guys can still play. They play good team defense when Dampier/Diop and others are allowed to be a factor in the game. However, when Dallas is forced to "go small", they absolutely suck defensively, probably one of the worst in the league right now. They have ZERO interior presence on the defensive end and suddenly the paint area is wide open for layups.

Unfortunately for them, the Warriors aren't playing according to the script.

Nice, yet more evidence that Dirk isn't MVP material whether or not he wins it. He's a one trick pony. Okur=Nowitzski.

Story of the year? Make that the story of the decade! This Dallas team was supposed to win 70 games (they would've if they didn't tank on purpose), only to lose to a team that barely snuck into the playoffs?

That would be one of the -- if not THE -- biggest upset in NBA history.

Look at the faces of those Dallas players. It's like they're daydreaming, just in complete disbelief that this could be happening to them, not after the season they've had.

Think about this: it's plausible that we might have the two teams from the previous NBA Finals eliminated in the first round. When was the last time that EVER happened in the NBA?

It looks like there are two lotteries this year. One for Oden/Durant, the other for the 2007 NBA Championship.

it is still too early to call a game. Warriors got be more careful with the turnovers. it could be up 25 now if they took care of the ball a bit better in the last three minutes

BTW, I am going to the next game.... ;)

The more play off games he plays,
the farther away Dirk is from his 'mvp' trophy

Not to look backwards, but just think if BD and SJax hadn't given up on game 2. IMO, the Mavs were ready to crack if the Warriors had applied pressure. Plus, this game isn't over with yet. Yet the Mavs shows their immaturity with two stupid techs but at least you can reason this game is almost gone anyway.

The biggest 7 game series upset I can think of now involved the Warriors: Sweeping the Bullets back in 1975. That's the first NBA Finals I remember well.

Assuming the Warriors hold on to route the Mavs in this is going to be a huge turning point in the series. Granted the next game is more important, but the fact that they've showed they can completely dominate the Mavs is definately going to have Dirk and his douche bag teammates questioning themselves. If there's one team in sports I hate it's the Mavs and to see them blow this series would be amazing.

Dirk gets his 4th foul. I would love to see Dirk foul out.

That's the norm. When he doesn't choke it's a headline.

The guy is the most overrated 'superstar' in the league. It's unbelievable how much of a choker he is. Even his own fans are disappearing altogether, unable and unwilling to defend him.

I have NEVER in my entire life seen a 'superstar' get nullified as much or as often or as easily as Dirk has been throughout his career. His whole game is basically dependent on the matchups he gets, not to mention that he can't play a lick of defense.

He's still an all-star, just an overrated one and DEFINITELY not an MVP. But if you ever needed confirmation as to why the MVP trophy is completely meaningless, you will get it this year.
