    Ridiculous.

Congratulations to Sam Mitchell, but this should be JVG's.

    No one's resume matches his.

To be fair, at this point it's just speculation by a Toronto newpaper.

F*CK man this makes me upset. The guy had great talent to work with and he was in the LEASTERN CONFERENCE. Screw that and the JVG Haters!

Mitchell could join MLB's Joe Girardi as coaches or managers who win COY and get fired or don't have their contract renewed. Word is the Bryan Colangalo wants to hire Phoenix Suns assistant Marc Iavaroni after the season.

Word is Mitchell changed their minds a while ago and is definitely coming back. But if he continues to make extremely poor game decisions in this series, maybe they let him go after all.

That's an absolute joke. McGrady and Yao played only 41 games together and they finished with the 4th best record in the league. Toronto was a suprise and had a nice season, but no way any of those guys did a better overall job than JVG.

How is it that you have over 4000 posts and I've never noticed you're a Mavs fan until the past few days?!?! In the Mavs/Warriors game 1 thread you kept commenting throughout the game how the Mavs would pull it out and were clearly rooting for them and now you think Avery Johnson deserves coach of the year? C'mon, man. His squad was healthy and he has one of the highest pay rolls in basketball. Of the top four candidates I think only Jerry Sloan and Jeff Van Gundy should have been in serious consideration. They had serious hurdles to overcome. Sam Mitchell is getting the reward for Bryan Colangelo's genius. Mitchell couldn't get it done before Colangelo had time to work his magic, but now that Colangelo retools his roster he's in the playoffs. Avery Johnson is a solid coach but he stepped in to a team that was already winning 55+ games and has an owner willing to spend more money than anybody this side of James Dolan. Consider me unimpressed with both of those guys.

I think Sloan, Van Gundy, Don Nelson and Phil Jackson have better cases.

this is so much b.s. JVG not even in the top 3?!?! thats unacceptable.
1- how can you choose someone from the Leastern confrence?
2- Coangelo is the genious behind the Raptors, not Mitchell... he was just at the right place at the right time.
    3- number 4?! NUMBER FREAKING 4?!

god i hate outsiders perceptions of houston.
