this is proof that doomsday threads actually HELP the Rockets!

so go ahead and keep hating, crying, and prognosticating!

2.5 back, 3 in the loss column, two games left against the Jazz including the last game of the season...

look at our remaining schedule. 11/16 of the games left are against teams with losing records. the lakers should count as a losing record due top thier slide as of late. we can pull off a great run, realistically.

the key is to beat the jazz in the two remaining games.

we have 10 straight winnable games. can we win them all in a row? i don't know, but we will be favored in all of them. with losses to the suns, and pistons, and hornets (they have our number).

if we win games we are supposed to win, and take care of business against utah, we are looking at home court.

Down by 2.5 games, Utah lost tonight.

we have to play them twice in the upcomming month, if we can keep up a better record the rest of the season and beat them on those 2 occasions, we do have a shot for Home court adv. :D

I say we win in the 2nd to the last game against Phoenix. Phoenix won't start resting their starters until the last 2 games. That's us. They could care less if the Rockets beat the Jazz.

The Jazz also have multitple back-to-back sets, the Rockets have just 1 back-to-back set.

The Jazz have an annual playoff slide, where they fade away and lose to mediocre or eastern conference teams right before the playoffs. The Rockets get better and better everyday with Yao Ming. When his brace comes off, he will be able to do his turn-around jumpers, dreamshake, and up and under moves at will.

    Jazz playing in Cleveland tomorrow.

Boozer's 1st game in Cleveland since "the betrayal."

Jazz WILL NOT win this game tomorrow.

Hehe Noize, it's still too early to claim that. Only 2.5 gap as of today. We still have a chance.

That's only assuming we have the same record for all the other games. Plus we're 2.5 back, so if our records were equal from this point forward and we won both games against the Jazz, we'd still be behind them. We're in striking distance, but its not simple heads up.

    ^^^^^2.5 back^^^^^

but three in the loss column... so its really three games back... its the loss column that counts

i'm pretty sure its head to head record, so if Rockets win both, they hold a 3-1 advantage...

if it is tied at 2-2, my guess would be conference record...

unless things have changed that should be how it works

    You are right.

To make it clearer, Utah's latest string of losses to the Eastern Conference teams don't hurt them at all if they end up with the same overall win-loss record as the Rockets at the end of the regular season. If our head-to-head result against the Jazz is 2-2, then Utah wins the tiebreaker since it will sure have better conference record than Houston. As of tonight, Utah is 25-12 in conference, while Houston is merely 21-19. In other words, the Rockets are 5.5 games behind the Jazz in conference matchups.

We cant count on the phoenix game.. like us.. they might move up close to Dallas and compete with them for the number one spot. If theyre .5-1 game away.. look to see all of their starters play.. but if that doesnt happen then more power to us!

If Utah loses to the Cavs, the Rockets control their destiny as to home court in the first round.

    GO LEBRON !!!
