ESPN reported it. They took Yao to get a MRI and that's the doctors recommendation.

So according to the latest article from Zhang Yi of Sohu Sports, Yao Ming will travel with the Rockets to Atlanta, the very first time since his injury he travelled together with the team on road game (Unlike the previous trip to Chicago for a second opinion/prognosis from a doctor).

And in the article, there are quotes from Keith Jones and Nelson Luis on the latest rehabilitation status of Yao Ming. So after all, it was not as pessimistic as Wang Meng wrote. It is still on the right track...... 10 days to go before Yao Ming resumed playing contact basketball !!! :D

That is not a terribly good translation. What they're saying is that his recovery is not 100% complete but is going well.

"Perfect" does not equal to "complete". The original wording from Zhang Yi's article is Perfect 完美.

Sure, but you have to consider context. An imperfect recovery implies that there is something wrong with the recovery that will cause the injury to not recover fully, for example, if a surgery reduced someone's athleticism, that would be an imperfect recovery.

I don't believe that is what Zhang Yi is getting at. In this instance I think he's saying that the injury is not 100% healed. The directly succeeding comments imply that a full recovery is still expected.

Anyway, in that case, take care, Big Yao, don't rush !!

    Yao's comeback concerns
    By Adrian Wojnarowski

    Thursday, Feb 22, 2007 11:21 pm EST
Houston Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy has always insisted that Yao Ming's life in the NBA would be much easier if maybe the center was perhaps five or six inches shorter because the seven feet, six inches of length deliver a beating to Yao's lower body.

Yao is working to rehabilitate a fractured right leg for an anticipated mid-March return, and on Thursday, Van Gundy confessed to concerns with the process.

"It's not a smooth thing," Van Gundy said by phone. "He's got to wear a knee brace and it's giving him a little problem running. If it affects how he's running, we're worried it will lead to other problems.

"All his injuries have had to do with the lower legs and each in itself is no big deal – an ankle, a toe – but it is a problem when they multiply. The only thing that can derail this guy is health. That's the only thing that can get in his way."

The Rockets have been far from the sub-.500 team that most expected once Yao went down in late December. They've gone 18-8 without Yao, leaving themselves within two games of San Antonio for the third seed in the West.

"The question is can we keep it going with Yao, or drop back like people thought we would without him?" Van Gundy said.

Awwww, that is the worst piece of Rockets news I've heard in a long time. It's nothing yet (so I don't wanna overreact), but if he doesn't run evenly it could lead to worse problems. :( Damn that brace!

I hate to see Yao injured. He is such a great player, teammate, ambassador, and hard worker!

Can't we get these guy on some kind of supplements to make his bones stronger?

Calcium, Vitamin D, Magnesium, Vitamin C, Phosphorus, Fluorine are all suppose to aid in bone health.

True, True. I'm sure Falsone has him on a great NBA diet. It's just tough being really big. Big guys always go through more injury problems.

According to one of the chinese articles, rox management has now set Yao's ideal weight down to 295. It'll hurt him somewhat trying to hold position on the block (his center of gravity is still so high), but in the long run, hopefully the lower weight will put less pressure on his lower body.

if the brace makes him run unevenly, they need to fit the other leg with a brace too. hopefully the things don't weight too much. a little weight on both legs could be like miniature strength training for him during every game.

All these experts and all this money and they can't get a brace that fits right?
