regardless of the scope of his injury management now has to look at this in worst possible case scenerio terms.

    he is injured.
he may not play, so assume he wont
figure out if we need to do anything about it
do somethign about it(sign players etc)
stand pat (Kenny can handle it)

to me, at this point we try to go shopping
flights to the bay area are pretty cheap, and since Steve is probably in DC, so he can start the negotiations there

    two pronged attack

regardless of the realities Im aftraid this means change

    poor MO :(
    peace

    give me a break ZRB.

    Rice
    Mobley
    Francis
    Griffin
    Cato

we make the playoffs. maybe as the eighth seed, maybe not getting out of the first round, but we make the playoffs. its just a bigger burden on our scorers. more shots for rice...
i mean its not like we are missing mo's rebounding and defense as everyone always whines about. we will be missing his scoring, and glen rice is around to pick up the slack, enough to get us into the first round of the playoffs. you should change your name to PessimisticMel. Go Rockets.

It's not going to happen, but could Marc Jackson play PF? He's a little undersized at the C to begin with. With guys like Fortson and Jamison, it's easy to see why the Warriors didn't use him at the 4.

Kenny isn't a great option, and even if he starts who comes off the bench? Griffin, from what I saw, is a little too skinny to play alot of minutes defending the bigtime forwards in the west.

    huby_n1,

Let's wait for medical details on the extent of the injury, and exactly what will need to be done (likely surgery followed by aggressive rehabilitation), before we try to answer that question.

This could be a blessing in disguise , either way it goes.

    1) We take it ( Mo's injury) and play to the best of our teams ability with Kenny and Eddie splitting time at the 4. The worst that can happen is Eddie gets lots of playing time and a shot at ROY, not to mention geling with the rest of the Rox and maybe making the playoffs. The best that could happen would be us getting a good spot in the lottery, possibly picking Chris Marcus. (this could be backwards depending, on how you look at it)

    2) We are forced to trade to for Marc Jackson and possibly Mookie while trading KT and Langhi and/or a pick; or for J. White and possibly losing more since MJ will know we're desperate.

I don't know about ya'll, but I'm kinda liking the first one.:)

    Oeily/Doc Rock,

so is a bad tear a Snapped Achilles, cause from the Achilles injuries i have seen you can't be mistaken if you snapped an Achilles, sounds distinctively like the CRACK of a WHIP and rather loud, so is a bad tear mean there is something of the Achilles conection remaining??

Get Othella! He gets more rebounds than mo anyways. Also its not like generating offense will be problem with these gunners that we have.

    Clutch,

In case you missed it, the Chronicle said Mo's current injury wasn't related to his struggles at the end of the season:

Taylor had experienced Achilles problems throughout last season, but the injury is considered coincidental to those problems.

"He had MRIs on both," Dawson said. "They were both great. This could have happened to anybody."

"He had Achilles tendinitis," Lowe said. "There's not a significant relationship between Achilles tendinitis and rupture. Ruptures don't happen with tendinitis. His MRIs were both good. When he was here, he had absolutely no symptoms whatsoever. And that was the area most carefully examined."

    ZRB,

What the hell is wrong with you? You predict us to win 54 games, and without Mo Taylor we aren't in the playoffs? That's one of the things that's beautiful about this team... there are lots of players who can step up. Kenny will probably be called opon to start at the beginning of this year, and hopefully he can respond. If he learns to finish better and keeps his intensity, he can be a 12/8 power forward in the West, and hopefully Eddie will contribute a lot as well. This isn't good news, but we are not out of the playoffs... not by a long stretch.

    SMeg,

We should get details soon that clarify the extent of the injury, complete tear vs. partial tear or strain. Exams and other tests like MRI's can help determine that.

Re. the injury, you're right Often when the Achilles tendon snaps, people think something has struck them in the back of the calf, and there is an audible pop or snap. Thye will turn around to see what hit them!

Let's hope for the best but plan for the worst.

Mo isn't even our number 1 go-to guy, or #2. Glen Rice should help fill the void offensively. I'm more worried about big bodies. Mo gave us a presence in the paint. PLEASE get Jahidi White!

The Magic had this thing with Grant Hill last year, and it turned out to be a positive sign with T-Mac emerging as a superstar.

This is a LONG shot, but maybe Griffin plays some backup and does it well enough that will slowly bring him into the starting lineup. But that probably won't happen, so we should get Anthony Mason for one year. He was an all-star last year, and he might ask for too much though. But the experience will be worth it. We need a player like him, a lot of good teams have TOUGH and dirty (hard working) players. But our closest one was like......no we weren't even close with anybody.:)

That is a kind of player that will payoff during the playoffs.....if we make it.

If Mo is out for the season, don't we get some 'injury money' from the NBA? Kind of like what they gave Miami when Zo went down??

Never want to see one of your own guys go down, but if there really is a silver lining around this dark cloud, it's that now we have one less offensive player worried about getting touches. What we need is a bonafide garbage man to step in and just be a terror on the boards. Let Steve, Cuttino, G-Money, and the rest worry about putting up points. Get well soon, Mo. We'll miss you. But one thing I won't miss is Mr. Rice complaining about touches... or his wife's complaining for that matter.

Holden: don't mind, ZRB. It's like Will said about him...he's just a controversial guy. That's just ZRB being ZRB. For him to act in any other way would make you say, "Who are you and what have you done with the real ZRB?"

This sucks. I believe now that CD/RT will be able to do the best possible option out of this situation.

He did undergo the surgery today. Taylor still thinks he can play late this season. CD takes the less optimistic "ten to twelve months" for full recovery.
