This is from BskBALL, but the part about Houston playing tough with Moochie goes against anything I have heard. Actually, I thought Fegan was playing hardball with us and asking for around 4 mil. per season. Anyway, there are still a couple of PG's out there and a few big guys.

08/29-WHO's LEFT?- There are still a number of free agents still on the market, here are some of the upper tier guys and where they may end up:
SCOTT BURRELL: Scott has been talking a lot, but there is limited interest beyond the veterans minimum for Burrell, despite his long range touch. Burrell has been linked to the Hornets, Lakers and to the Jazz.
CHRIS GATLING: Gat wants a 4 year deal, and no one wants to give him that. He has been working out in Cleveland, but they do not appear interested in signing him. There was talk of a trade to Miami which died on the table. Currently Gat has a few small suitors, but no one willing to give him the deal he seeks.
JIM JACKSON: Talk regarding JJ has been slim to none, word has it his attitude has gone from bad to worse, and most teams are passing on him. Its likely he gets picked up, but no one is after him seriously.
GARY TRENT: There was talk that Gary met with the Lakers who were interested, but would not guarantee a deal for the injury prone Trent. Gary is a good offensive player and brings a lot to the table. Repeated injuries have limited interest in him. I have heard the 76ers would like to sign him, but they like the Lakers don't want to guarantee the deal.
MARC JACKSON: Marc is still in limbo. The Warriors are said to be serious about retaining him, but won't big against themselves to land him. They have reportedly offered Jackson the maximum raise from his previous deal, something in the $500K range. A far cry from the $5 million per year he demanded from Seattle.
MOOCHIE NORRIS: Moochie is said to be wanting a 4 year deal at roughly $2 million per season. That actually not bad for a player of Moochie's ability, but sadly he hung around waiting for Houston and the money is gone, because several teams would have paid him that. The Rocket know Moochie's options are limited and are playing it kind of tough with him.
ISIAH RIDER: The Cavs seem to be the only team with real interest in JR, as Cavs head coach John Lucas is considering JR to bolster his offense. The Lakers still remain an option, but they are not guaranteeing any more deals, so JR would really have to work hard to make the team.
ANTHONY MASON: Mase is waiting for word from Milwaukee. ESPN's subscriber service says Sam Cassell is holding up a deal, although Bucks sources say there really isn't a problem with Sam, that hasn't existed since his arrival. Mason is said to have a tentative agreement for a 4 year deal worth roughly $4.7 million per season
TROY HUDSON: Troy Hudson continues to shop for his next deal, but unfortunately word got around about him in LA as a Clipper, and he did nothing to really distinguish himself in Orlando. The Magic would like to retain him, to a non-guaranteed contract, but Hudson is seeking a full guaranteed contract.
ROD STRICKLAND: The Heat and Pacers appear to be the teams serious about Strickland, with Miami in the best position to grab him. Its unlikely he returns to Portland, who is stocked with PG's
SHAMMOND WILLIAMS: The Celtics continue to be mentioned with interest, but word is Boston is packed roster wise and will not guarantee another deal. Shammond has been talking with the Sonics, and it looks promising he returns.
OLDEN POLNICE: Officer Polynice has been the topic of discussion, mostly because of his off court issues. Few teams have serious interest, and there is talk he'll come back to Utah at the veterans minimum.

Does anyone know when the earliest we can sign Stevie to a "max" contract like Vince and Jamison got?

From what I've heard on this BBS, the Rockets will pick up the 4th year option on his contract at about $4.4 million for the 2002/2003 season, then lay down the big bucks...What that will be is anybody's guess, though

Also read this about Lee Nailon.......

NAILON's OPTIONS DWINDLE- Lee Nailon was hoping to see some reward for his choices. After being drafted and showing poorly, he did as he was told and spent a year over-seas grooming his game, and conditioning his body. Last year he came back and earned a spot on the Hornets bench and was a good player under Paul Silas despite limited minutes, he worked hard in practice and was a good teammate. This summer, he expected not only to retained by the Hornets, he expected some level of respect. After all, he did what he was asked to do. This summer has been frustrating, the Hornets have tendered the absolute minimum offer they can to retain his rights, offering a nice $600K contract, but only $48,000 is guaranteed. The only way he gets the whole deal is if he stays on the roster after Dec 1st, meaning the 1st two months of the season will be torture, wondering if he'll stay on the team. His desperate agent went to Charlotte area message boards posting details of the contract talks, trying to rally fan support or at least awareness for his client. Nailon's agent said he'd sign if the Hornets upped the guarantee to at least half the contract, something they still have not done. Yesterday the Bugs signed Lorenzo Coleman a 7'1 center who's been kicking around in the minor league system, to a training camp contract (non-guaranteed for the NBA minimum), they are also expected to add Titus Ivory to their camp roster. With options and interest in Nailon dwindling, its said he's likely to sign the $48,000 guaranteed deal, rather than risk no seat at the big dance. Just goes to show you why players don't "take one for the team"

This guy had some bright spots off the bench for Charlotte last year. Not sure if we'd waste our time with him, but he could be had very cheap as it appears.

Is Jeff McInnis still a free agent? He could be a good replacement for Moochie Norris if he is still available, but I'm sure he would be looking for big money as well.

McInnis had his option picked up by the Clippers so he isn't (and wasn't) a free agent. He will be one next season though.
