http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/pr...lusive%2F10%2F17%2Fnba.guide1023%2Findex.html (Requires subscription) Just got my SI and it came with a nice surprise. Bonzi picked for 6th man of the year and CD picked for executive of the year. Yao picked for All-NBA first team. The bandwagon is rolling...
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mu.../gallery.nba.bustingloose.west/content.6.html They also gave props to Chucky Hayes. Busting Loose: Western Conference Player 6 of 15 Chuck Hayes | Houston Rockets Already one of the league's best per-minute rebounders, Hayes worked on his upper-body strength during the summer and seems ready to start alongside Yao Ming in the Houston frontcourt. Though undersized, the 6-6 Hayes averaged 4.5 rebounds in 13.4 minutes per game last year while collecting nearly 20 percent of all available rebounds while he was on the court.
Yao should have at least been second team. He led all centeres in scoring last season if i am not mistaken and he freaking only made 3rd team?
Sorry. Here it is: http://premium.si.cnn.com/pr/subs2/...bs/siexclusive/10/17/nba.guide1023/index.html 5 Minute Guide Who will have huge years, who will need a new job and which team might land the biggest prize in June (besides the title) AWARD WINNERS Bobcats' Adam Morrison. Bob Rosato/SI MVP: LEBRON JAMES, Cavaliers For him to become youngest MVP in history (at 22), Cleveland must improve on its 50 wins of last season. It will. ROOKIE: ADAM MORRISON, Bobcats Sweet-shooting Gonzaga alum will lead class in scoring -- and survive a challenge from Bulls forward Tyrus Thomas. COACH: JERRY SLOAN, Jazz When Utah surges, finest coach in pro sports gets honor he should have won long ago (and more than once). DEFENSIVE: PLAYER BEN WALLACE, Bulls He's hungry to prove Detroit's defensive collapse last year wasn't his fault. SIXTH MAN: BONZI WELLS, Rockets Last-minute free-agent signee will provide instant offense at shooting guard or small forward while helping turn Houston into a contender. MOST IMPROVED: SHAUN LIVINGSTON, Clippers Expect a breakout year from this 6'7" playmaker, Chris Paul's rival to become league's premier young point guard. EXECUTIVE: CARROLL DAWSON, Rockets Despite having no cap space and few tradable assets, retirement-bound G.M. has turned Houston around by dealing for Shane Battier and signing Wells. ALL-NBA TEAM C YAO MING, Rockets Shaquille O'Neal is no longer the game's top pivot. F DIRK NOWITZKI, Mavericks Third in MVP voting last two years. F LEBRON JAMES, Cavaliers Write him into this slot for the next decade. G DWYANE WADE, Heat Overtakes Kobe Bryant as premier two guard. G STEVE NASH, Suns His minutes and scoring may drop, but he remains the MVPG (Most Valuable Point Guard).
Can that all-NBA team win a World Championships and the Olympics gold medal for the USA if Yao and Dirk become naturalized citizens?
I dont think so, If he was he would have been on team USA. I could have swore he played for Canada at the last Olympics.
Sweet. I'm sooo happy to see CD get some recognition, and to tell the truth I think the nod to Sloan was pure class (though I HATE the Jazz still). Kobe, 2nd team, heh heh. As for Yao, finally someone picks a center without hedging his bets. Overdue.
I was in favor of the Battier for Gay deal, but think it is funny how most of the people here bashed CD to death after the draft, and now he is picked as executive of the year by SI. Give the man his credit. His job was to make this team more talented and that is unquestionably true. Now its up the players and Van Gundy to do the rest.
CD might just go out with a bang. great trade (for the near future) in battier. stole bonzi off the market. stole novak in the second round. found killbill overseas. he's done it all this summer.
