on the radio jvg said he has a pretty sure idea of the top 13 players whos going to make the team. i'm guessing:

    PG: rafer, v-span, lucas
    SG: Bonzi, snyder, head
    SF: T-Mac, novak
    PF: Battier, Juawn, hayes
    C: yao, mutombo

does that mean rybo is gone? :D ;) or does novak or hayes is not making the team? maybe lucas is out? this means scotty, jacobson, assbbuake, haryass, are fighting for the 14th and 15th spot. post who you think jvg was talking about.

Wow, that's a tough one. Your guess is as good as mine. Definately not JL III or Novak. I love Hayes but I could see him not making the roster.

I'd guess the 13 would be:

    01. T-Mac
    02. Yao
    03. Battier
    04. Wells
    05. Alston
    06. Howard
    07. Mutumbo
    08. Snyder
    09. Head
    10. Hayes
    11. VSpan
    12. Novak
    13. Lucas III

    14. Bowen
    15. Padgett

Cut: Sura, Azubuike, Haryaz, and Jacobson (though I wish we'd take any of these guys over Rybo)

He turned down a non-guaranteed contract with the Rockets for a contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

My 15 would be more like this:

    01. T-Mac
    02. Yao
    03. Battier
    04. Wells
    05. Alston
    06. Howard
    07. Mutumbo
    08. Snyder
    09. Head
    10. Hayes
    11. VSpan
    12. Novak
    13. Lucas III
    14. Jacobson
    15. Padgett

Cut: Sura, Azubuike, Haryaz, and Bowen

Sura is the one guy on that list that would kill me. If he were healthy he might stay and we would have to cut either Padgett or Jacobson.

    My 13 are here:

    C - Yao, Mutombo
F - McGrady, Battier, Howard, Novak, Hayes
G - Wells, Alston, Snyder, Head, Lucas, Spanoullis
(Really we should look at this as 12+1, and I'm guessing Novak and Lucas alternate as the 12th man/1st player on the IR)

I'm relatively certain that Haryasz will make the team for big man insurance. The 15th spot is Bowen's to lose. One of the other players (Padgett?) will have to "out-practice" Bowen to make the team. This should be seen as neither a hard thing to do, nor a foregone conclusion.

Didn't JVG promise Ryan Bowen - he'll always have a job if hes the coach?

    That scares me.

Ryan Bowen and Bob Sura should be cut. The rest should play their heart out to earn a chance to be on the roster.

I agree except for 2 things:
    1. I'd keep Azubuike at #14 just to see the kid make good in spite of his dad.
    2. JVG will keep Rybo at #15.

There are 15 guaranteed contracts, JVG says he know who the top 13 he wants to keep are. Meaning there are two of these 15 who are not safe despite their deal being guaranteed.

The only likely candidates not to make the team among the 15 guaranteed are Ryan Bowen (sucks, and injured now) and Bob Sura (possible retirement)

    My thoughts and predictions:

    1. Yao
    2. McGrady
    3. Battier
    4. Wells
    5. Alston
    6. Howard
    7. Head
    8. Snyder
    9. Deke

These are the 9 that JGV says will play.

    10. Hayes

These are the 13 JVG said have made the team and the bubble players for the active roster:

    11/12/13. Novak, JLIII, Billy

    14. Harryasz. We only have 3 legitimate big men on the roster - we need a 4th. The player I am hoping makes it who probably won't.

    15. Padgett. JVG wants shooting, and Battier makes Rybo redundant.

Cut: Rybo, Jacobsen, Azubuike, and Sura (based on not being healthy enough to play).

I am not sure JVG will cut Rybo ...

Barring any trade, the roster could potentially shape up lke this-

    G-Alston/Wells/Head/Billy/Synder
    F-Tmac/Battier/Howard/Hayes
    C-Yao/Mutombo

    On the buuble-Novak/Padget/Jacobson

    Dev League-JLIII/Haryaz
    Cut R. Bowen
    Retirement-Sura

Assuming we don't do any trades, I think this is what the roster will be in order of minutes played, at least initially.

    1. McGrady G/F
    2. Battier F
    3. Yao C
    4. Wells G/F
    5. Howard F/C
    6. Alston PG
    7. Head G
    8. Hayes F/C
    9. Snyder G/F
    10. Mutombo C
    11. Spanoulis G
    12. Lucas PG
    13. Padgett PF

    14. Novak F
    15. Haryasz F/C

I expect JVG will favor Padgett slightly over Novak, but that might be determined in training camp. 1-9 will be the primary rotation players. If Snyder falls out of favor for whatever reason, Spanoulis will bump up. If Wells or McGrady miss action, Snyder might move ahead of Luther. We seem to be overloaded with perimeter wing players. I don't see Jacobsen making it above these guys.

Haryasz impressed in the summer league, and we need an extra big on the team.

Perhaps I'm overly optimistic that Hayes will be a regular rotation player. Rockets management seemed to be gushing over him during the summer. No way he'll be dropped off the roster, that's for sure.

    The way it oughta be...
    C: Ming/Mutumbo (a given)
    PF: Howard/Padgett/Haryaz
    SF: Battier/a lttle TMAC/a little Wells/Novak (sparingly)
    SG: TMAC/Bonzi/Snyder
    PG: Alston/Vspan/JLIII
    14/15 Head/Hayes

the rest: Sura is unfortunately done, Rybo shoulda been gone before he arrived, Jacobson brings nothing to the table we dont already have.
