Where did you get that 20 million figure? One thing is sure, China is not even close to be the number one country in terms of dog meat consumption per capita.

The following incident just illustrated once again to us that Yao Ming is of such noble character and a man that honours his words and deeds.

In last year's summer, during the NBA Basketball Without Borders Asia camp in July, there was supposedly a dedication cermemony of a NBA Legacy Project at the Beijing Hui Lei School, a school for children of migrant workers.

It was a project that included the building of a new Reading & Learning Center facility, consisting of a multimedia room and a library complete with 50 computers and more than 2,500 books, and a new basketball court sponsored by Reebok.

A donation of educational materials, clothing and basketball equipment was supposedly to be made to the Beijing Hui Lei School. US Ambassador to China, Mr. Clark Randt was supposedly to join Yao Ming and the rest of the NBA players and coaches at the NBA Legacy Project dedication ceremony.

Unfortunately, Yao Ming had aggravated the injury to his ankle during a basketball clinic for the disabled children the previous afternoon that he had to excuse himself from this dedication ceremony.

Yao Ming wrote a personal letter/announcement to the principal/teachers/students at Beijing Hui Lei School afterwards to apologize that he could not make it to their school for the dedication ceremony of the NBA Legacy Project, and promised that he would come to visit them within a year's time.

And yesterday, he lived up to his promise, and visited the Beijing Hui Lei School......

Yao Ming in his capacity as the official spokesperson for China Unicom appeared as a honarary guest in a CCTV "real man" show....Win In China the night of September 5.

Win In China is a competition series where 12 young enterpreneurs are given virtual principal for them to invest in stocks, mutual funds, real estates or new business. At the end, the top 6 competitors will be prized with millions for their new business endeavours/investment.

Here is Yao Ming autographing at the back of a participant.

Well, Yao Ming has left Beijing, and is now in Shanghai.

He will be attending a Gatorade sponsored meeting with his fans, and then media tomorrow (i.e. September 10, Sunday) at 13:30 ~ 16:00.

And the 4 highest bidders will get Yao Ming's self-designed Gatorade Yao T-shirts, which had been put onto the Chinese Ebay for auction for the past month.

Yao Ming & Gatorade will add to the proceeds to come up with around 80,000 RMB to be donated to China Athlete Educational & Development Fund....

So stay tune for my reports and photos then......
