It might sound ok in Greek but it is most horrible in English and smacks of EVIL I would much rather use V Span . 'Kill Bill' does nothing to endear me to the player/performer, It sorts of alienates him into an evil catagory. IMHO!! It would be ok if it was Ice Hockey which is a game with evil players.

In Greek, Vassilios translates to Basil or Bill in English. When a Greek is talking about the person, Vassilios is used. When a Greek is talking to the person, Vassili is used.

In this case, Vassilis is a form of Vassilios. It's just a matter of spelling. So, VSpan's name in English would be Basil and more commonly Bill.

Phonetically, VSpan's name is as follows: Vas-see-lis Spa-noo-lis. I need to check with my dad on that, but I am 99% sure, that's the phonetical description.

Comprende? My father's name in Greek is Vassilios, so I am pretty familiar with the name.

Another example would be Nick, my name. In Greek, I am known as Niko. When someone, say my Dad, is talking about me to a relative, he would say Nikos, if he were to talk in Greek. However, if he talked directly to me, he would call me Niko.

Then you don't want to know what his first nick-name was, before the "Kill Bill" movies came out. :D

Bah, what am I doing here? I still can't get over the fact that we lost the player like that when we needed him the most...

I don't know... considering that <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Villi">"villi" are structures that absorb nutrients in the intestines</a>.

Maybe "Villi" means he has a lot of guts.

You guys have totally been conned. The English equivalent of Vassilis is not Bill, but Cornelius

And if you remember your Greek Mythology 101, Spanoulis was actually the god of scorn and contempt

So let's stop all this "Kill Bill" nonsense, okay? His nickname should obviously be Cornelius the Contemptuous

Cool, a VSOF :D What was his first nickname??

Why does this guy get a nickname anyways? Last time I checked, he hasn't done anything.

props goes to wardjdim @ realgm.com for the boxscore

not a great debut but this is about as in depth as the stats are going to be for the time being, hopefully we will see some flashes of brilliance from Kill Bill... oh btw Greece has been beating all of the teams it has been playing by double digits so far by 15, 19, and i believe 20 pts respectively.

Doesn't matter. He's a Rocket now and he gets a nickname.

Please drop the Milli Spannilli crap. I hated all the Nilly Pollity bands back in the 80's, and if Worrell, Blinebury, Marv Albert, etc get ahold of that gay-ass name, I'll never be able to watch another Rockets broadcast.

    Kill Bill works for me.

    Some Infos:

It was the fourth Preoeration-Game for Hellas(Greece).

The first one was a defeat against Serbia by 4 Points (75 : 79)!
    Spanoulis had 14 Points.

The second Game against Canada was win with 89:59 where Spanoulis had just 2 Points.
Zisis and Kyritsis(Guards with same size and age) had 14 and 17 Points ;)

The third Game against Italy was again a Victory with 83:62.
Spanoulis did not play at that game.

Yesterday was the fourth game against Croatia with the 79:54 win.
Today Hellas will play against Italy again and tomorrow against France (with T.Parker, Diaw & Co).

    Klick for the Stats

    Something to remember:
Spanoulis is just Guard Number 4 in Team Hellas!
    No1 is Papaloukas
    No2 is Diamantidis
    No3 is Zisis

So don`t expect to see Spanoulis playing a big role in this Team.

Btw, a nice Foto of Spanoulis:
