Other NBA teams manage to keep rookies on their rosters. I think it helps if you don't sign other teams' discarded veterans (Rick Brunson!!).

Don't get too worked up over this game, just look at the rest of the box score...
Everyone did well, on both teams.

Although Gay had 21/10 in a summer league game against some scrubs, what was impressive is that he did all this in 24 mins.

Van Gundier, you're such a homer. Okay, the 20 pts may be against scrubs, but he got 10 boards in 24 min. That meant he hustled; thus, he has chip on his shoulders. Chucky Hayes, who's supposed to be our secret tough guy, only averaged 11.6 rebounds against scrubs. And Jelani McCoy was once an NBA player for a short period.

Chuck Hayes went against quality scrubs at the Vegas Summer League.. the LBC Summer League, at least that game, had only scrubby scrubs. Mavs sent first team scrubs (First round Pick Mo Ager, etc) to Vegas, and the 2nd team scrubs (Marcus Hatten) to LBC.

McCoy has seen a total of 100 NBA minutes since April, 2003, and none last season, I doubt he has any kind of a shot of seeing any more.

It sounded like he was very impressive and he said he's not quite in game shape yet. That was tough to swallow.

I hope Rudy Gay is a bust in the NBA.

I hope he pulls an Eddie Griffin.

P.S. He could not shoot over 60% like Spanoulis. And he has no stamina. And he cannot defend.

Of course not playing for a couple of months competitively has nothing to do with being out of shape.

And of course West & Co. will be completely incapable of coaching Gay and making him a better player.....

Bit Battier is still young and has a lot more upside for us to capture. There are aspects of his game like speed and playing above the rim that are still unexplored......

The LBSL is playing 4 games in 5 days. MEM will look at a lot of players because unlike a certain other team, they just may add a rookie or two to their roster. I'll ignore the "can't defend" comment 'cause I'm guessing you weren't there.
