Bulls Give Offer To Ben Wallace
    3rd July, 2006 - 1:50 am
Detroit Free Press - Ben Wallace currently has two deals on his plate, according to the Detroit Free Press, with both the Pistons and the Chicago Bulls putting in their bids for the defensive player of the year's services for the next four years.

The Pistons have offered a four-year deal worth approximately $48 million to Wallace in Detroit. And the Chicago Bulls , who sent coach Scott Skiles and vice president of basketball John Paxson to Detroit, have started bidding at closer to $52 million for four seasons.

Wallace is an unrestricted free agent and can verbally agree to a deal at any time, but he can't sign a contract until July 12 at the earliest.

If it's that small of a difference, I think Wallace re-signs with the Pistons.

Yeah I was expecting more along the lines of 65M for 5 years. If the difference is only 4 million then there is no point in leaving the only team youve been successfull in. Now if Chicago adds an extra year then they would have a chance

Big Ben and Flip don't seem to get along. He may go to the Bulls.

Wallace seemed to really go cold on the Pistons last year. He may get over it and return, but he definitely was playing with no joy most of the season. I think this is stemming from a babyish "no one loves me" attitude. Flip won't run plays for me! Everyone else gets all the love in the media! Waa! Waa!

It's happened before that guys will turn down a big offer from their team and take a smaller one from someone else because they want to stick it to the team back. A recent, but smaller, example would be Swift.
