How does everyone feel about going with a live slow draft next season? We did it in fadeaway's baseball league. While it took awhile to finish, you picked the players you wanted, instead of the computer picking for you.

We will also have 1 opening, as Mari Beth was a fill in. Since a lot of guys are lined up waiting to get in, what would be the best way to fill this spot? Vote on it? First come first serve?

This spot WILL NOT be filled at this time. So don't post that you want in. We will decide before next season's draft.

good ideas bobo. I think it should be slow draft and we should vote on the league person.

While the anticipation of the draft list was kinda cool, I would prefer to have a little more control over who I draft. [IMG]

Did you guys check out that freakin' fantasy baseball draft? Christ, that thing's still going, I think. LOL!

I'm not sure about the live draft thing after seeing that. That's a season by itself... lol. [IMG]

But seriously, I'll go ahead and do it if you guys vote it in.

How about doing a live fast draft instead?

I've done pretty much every type of draft and the live fast draft is by far the funnest format. It's just so intense.

The main problem, of course, would be getting a day and time suitable for all 14 participants. But, we have plenty of time to plan it, and for an event of this magnitude, you can make time for it!

I just found the slow draft in baseball sooooo frustrating, and there were only ten people in that league. I wanted to kill myself halfway through it. [IMG]

How does the fast draft work? You have a time limit? That wouldn't be that great either... especially trying to get 14 people together at the same time on the same day.

The fast draft only gives you so much time, then the computer picks for you. At least with the slow draft you get the players you want. I think the basketball draft will go much faster than the baseball draft. We all know who we want. Whatever you guys decide is fine by me.

I don't think the slowness problem lies so much in not knowing who you want to pick as it does in people not having constant internet access throughout the day.

Basketball might be quicker than baseball, since each team has only 12 members (as opposed to 24), but then again, there will be 14 teams instead of 10, so it will still be pretty damn long -- 2 weeks at least, I guess.

Each draft format has its strengths and weaknesses.

Open-List draft:
Pro - Luck is involved, so it has a Vegas appeal. Suspenseful, in a good way.

Con - The least amount of player control.

Fast Live draft:
Pro - Very intense and exciting. High degree of player control, especially if you do your homework and organize your lists beforehand. Preparation is key.

Con - It is tough (almost impossible) to schedule a day and time good enough for everyone.

Slow Live draft:
Pro - High degree of player control. No scheduling necessary (although if we do schedule a few meeting times, it would make things much better -- this is almost impossible, however, and is probably a pipe dream).

Con - Slooooooowwwwww. Draft has a tendency to drag on and on. Very frustrating. Some may find it boring.

It's not a big problem. If I had to decide, I would go with fast live, but I realize that might not be convenient for people with busy schedules. Fast live appeals to me, but I can live with any format really.

Don't forget about me! I'm still stuck in 7/12 overtime hell! [IMG] Just 8 more days till it's over.

I'm available for whatever type of draft the group votes for, but I must say that the idea of a fast live draft sounds intriguing. I like that suspensful, under the gun type of pressure.

I'll be back to my 20 posts a day normal self in about 9 days. Cheers!

I won't forget about anyone. I just brought this up to get your opinions, since the season just ended. We won't vote until next years draft. Everyone's opinion is appreciated.

I can't believe DoD lost. He was kicking all of our asses for the 1st part of the year. Hey DoD, were you an Oilers fan?

I am in favor of the slow Live Draft, but we can think about it for 3 months. BTW, my GM will now be fired. The 'position' is open. LOL. Hopefully baseball will be just as good, and all I can say is that Y'all are goin' down!
