There's no one they have that we'd realistically be interested in besides Jameer Nelson, and they're not going to dump him so I don't see this working out.

If they really want to move up, give us another 1st rounder.

We don't want any more of your junk Orlando. Although, Disney World would be nice..

At this point, I don't think the Rockets can move down. If Portland offers Jarrod Jack + Andrea Bargnani or LaMarcus Aldridge (whichever is available at #4) in exchange for Toronto's drafting of Adam Morrison, then the draft gets really crazy.

    1) Toronto -- Adam Morrison (for trade to Portland)
    2) Chicago -- LaMarcus Aldridge
    3) Charlotte -- Rudy Gay
    4) Portland -- Andrea Bargnani (+ J. Jack to Toronto)
    5) Atlanta -- Marcus Williams
    6) Minnesota -- Patrick O'Bryant
    7) Boston -- Tyrus Thomas
    8) Houston -- Brandon Roy

A lot of fans will rejoice over this scenario, but Roy's shooting range and creaky knees worry me.

You could be right. Still, even though we can't say that "GMs aren't so stupid or susceptible to persuasion" (GMs can be pretty stupid sometimes), wouldn't all this yak-yak-yak amount to a weak form of Jedi mind trick?

Orlando GM: (waving fingers at other GMs with higher draft picks) Ronnie Brewer can shoot lights out. He's God.

Other GMs: Ronnie Brewer is Da Man!

Orlando GM (pulling Obi-Wan finger wave again): You can draft him ahead of me with the (5th/6th/7th/8th) pick.

Other GMs: (blinking, coming out of trance) SAY WHAT? Who do I look like, ISIAH THOMAS??!!

Danny Ainge is all about white and he'll take Redick. So he's gone. Orlando needs size in the backcourt to match up with itty-bitty Jameer Nelson, anyway. They don't really need a 4/5. And maybe they need to save money for next year, so the Fran Vazquez idea might have merit.

    Maybe.

Marcus Williams is C's pick IMO. Unless Danny trades Perkins and #7 for #1???

This is Vazquez's profile from last year on Draft Express. Sounds like a good pick-up if we could get him:

Fran Vázquez is an athletic paint player who displays great speed and mobility, nice coordination and very good leaping ability. He's gifted with very long arms and decent strength despite his skinny appearance.
On the offensive end, he takes advantage of his superior speed to beat the defense by running the break or using screens to get an open position. He plays quite well without the ball, particularly in pick and roll situations. He's a pretty explosive finisher: he can receive the ball and dunk it in a second. Perhaps his best offensive weapon is his jumper out to 12-14 feet, being able to deliver it with a slight fade-away movement, which, combined with his wingspan and vertical, makes his shots very difficult to stop. He also displays a semi-hook shot, which is very reliable and helps him to produce in the low post. He's also consistent from the free-throw line.
On defense, he can be a good intimidator. Using his long arms and leaping ability with perfect timing, he gets a good amount of blocks on a regular basis. He has the physical tools, such as wingspan or quickness, and shows the right attitude to become a reliable defender. He's also a nice rebounder, getting many defensive boards thanks to his athleticism.
Vázquez is a natural-born worker, always trying to get better, always improving on his weaknesses, and pretty intense on the floor. He's really serious about the game and shows great maturity and character; he doesn't hesitate if he's needed to lead his team. He knows his current limitations and plays under control.
Given his physical profile and attitude, he still has lots of potential.

They don't have Harpring. I would consider Hedo too though. He can play. Grant Hill or Jameer Nelson would be worth it too. Although the money/orlando's interest may not add up.

from the articles i've read the general rumours are...

    minny want shelden
celtics want to trade, then spanish chocolate, then redick, want to trade again
    rocks want redick

magic want redick, want to trade, want redick, want to trade...

redick is either a smokescreen or he's going at 8.

    hi

i dont think orlando will drop the rights to vazquez or a future first round to move from #11 to #8 ... i think they'll throw in their 2 secound round picks (#41, #44) + maybe Stevenson ... at #11 we will still have a shot at a good player (SG : brewer or redick / PF : simmons, s.williams, a.johnson / PG : Rondo), and with the 3 secound round picks we could land 3 good role players (novak, millsap, farmar, james white, roby, etc etc ...)

Clutch, what is YOUR take on Brewer vs Carney? I dont remember if you responded in my Brewer/Carney thread or not. If they are both on the board, who do you take and why?

Ya know, I dont think anyone doubts that Carney is a physical specimen! He is! Very athletic. But again, the BB IQ/Motor issue comes into play. The more I hear about Ronnie Brewer and the more I watch a player like Josh Howard play for Dallas, and the more I feel the NBA is going to versitile lineups, the more I think Brewer would be great in Houston. You could play Brewer at 4 different positions including a small/quick lineup with him at PF.

Imagine a speed lineup of T-Mac, Stro, Brewer, James and Alston. That lineup can get you back in a game real quick.

Deshawn can play D, Brian Hill praised his defense. I like the idea of moving down to 11 and getting an established player like Deshawn for the 8. I would use the 11 pick for JJ and we would have an athletic 2/3 and shooting specialist. We could use the MLE to fill other needs besides SG.

I'm sure that's what the Rockets are thinking and want to do with Orlando, however as was pointed out prevvvviously in this thread, Orlando actually wants Redick not Carney.

    Carney is the smokescreen.

So if the Rockets traded their big TE for Stevenson, and the #8 pick to Orlando, Redick would go 8th.

So more like the Rockets would get Brewer and Stevenson, a bit redundant.

Which is why this whole thing comes up about trade discussions, this article, talking with Boston, because Houston realizes that this would not actually work.
