And he believes T-Mac is not one of them. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=cnnsi-followtheleader&prov=cnnsi&type=lgns
i think that list is just based on the past year in which case you can't fault him for not having t-mac.
I'd swap out paul pierce for Tmac, swap dirk & nash & move Wade up 1 notch and agree with the rest of it. If Tmac weren't hurt, you'd have to believe he'd be in there somewhere. Either that or this writer didn't watch any rockets games last year, specifically the mavs playoff series.
well garnett was still one of the ten best players in the league last year. t-mac on the other hand barely played half our games.
I agree to get him up there..but instead of Shaq, not really..maybe instead of the stupid elton Brand because he had this only dang lucky season and everybody thought he is the MVP.. they better stop that crap..
T-mac is the best all-around player in the NBA, not because he plays for the rockets.. I thought the same way when he was in Orlando.. T-mac is and will always be THE BEST .. not top ten.. maybe the only one that could come close to him is Nash, Wade and Lebron .. but heck no, no pierce, no KG, no Duncan, no Elton Brand .... Elton Brand ??? .. and not even Kobe, Kobe might be the best TALENT, but not the best Player or what is know as the MOST VALUABLE PLAYER to a team, valuable means he can win for them, not be a ballhog and shoot some impossible crazy 3 threes from the parking lot instead of passing it to a wide-open team-mate.. . the fool that made this list doesn't even know what basketball is...but u know what, T-mac doesn't need anybody to say he is the best.. he will prove it next year when he gets healthy and gets us a championship and all of these ********** that are b****ing at him will shut up...
this guy is supposed to be talking about just this season, only he seems to be building this list largely on the players' past histories...no way shaq has been a top 10 player this year, hes not even the best player on his team. he doesnt dominate the game AT ALL anymore; i honestly cant recall one game where hes completely taken over and putting duncan at #1? one could argue that this is the best season the spurs have had, but duncan is obviously not himself, what with his injury and all...putting him in the top spot is a travesty...you could also argue that tony parker has been a better player this year the rest of the list i dont have much to complain about, although tmac belongs when hes healthy (but as we all know, he hasnt been, and this list is SUPPOSED to be about this season only)
u have some good points, but to say that Shaq cannot dominate anymore is pretty wrong.. Shaq had a lot of injuries and stuff, but he is still the most dominant center in the league.. and he deserves to be a top 5 player "career wise" ...
Totally useless thread, especially if the author claims that this list is based on this season. I don't care whether he is injured or not, Tim Duncan's lame play this season won't land him in my top 10 list, let alone #1. In reality, #1 Kobe #2 Lebron #3 Dirk #4 Wade #5 Nash #6 Yao #7 Pierce #8 AI #9 Brand #10 KG HM: Shaq, Marion, Billups, Duncan.
Not that bad of a list, Pierce and Shaq are questionable picks IMO. Replace Shaq w/ Yao. You could normally make a case for TMac, but not this season. PP quietly had a very very good season.
From a tmac fan, next year LeBron will be better than tmac, arguably he already is better than prime t-mac days.
Yao showed he could be very good/dominant in last 2,3 months. But he still needs to keep doing it in a longer period. His explosion in performance may be the benefit of 30 days of resting for toe healing. T-mac hasn't played a lot of games in this season. And in those games he played, plagued by a back problem, he hasn't been able to reach his level. His assist, FGP, etc. are all declining.
McGrady does not deserve to be on that list. He has not been able to carry his team when it counts most. In Garnett's case, how can you leave a guy like that off the list, he plays night in night out, no injuries, and his performance his consistent.
Why there are NOT Ming and Mac?I think both of them deserve top 10 list.Anyway,it might be the damning injuries that had caused them not include in the list
Tracy's health issues makes it understandable he's not on the list. Just for thought. Which of these players would the GM not trade for Yao Ming? 10. Shaquille O'Neal, Heat TRADE! 9. Paul Pierce, Celtics TRADE! 8. Dwyane Wade, Heat TRADE! 7. Steve Nash, Suns TRADE! 6. Elton Brand, Clippers TRADE! 5. Kevin Garnett, Timberwolves TRADE! 4. LeBron James, Cavaliers NO! 3. Dirk Nowitzki, Mavericks MAYBE! 2. Kobe Bryant, Lakers NO! 1. Tim Duncan, Spurs NO! Miami, Boston, the Clips, and the T-pups would trade their guy for Yao without thinking twice and I think he would make them a better team. Only definite no's are LeBron/Kobe and probably nots are Nowitzki/Duncan and maybe Wade. If T-Mac is healthy I would rank him up there with LeBron/Kobe.
Look at his game by game stats. He scored over 30 points only 4 times. 13 or more rebounds 8 times. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/shaquille_oneal/game_by_game_stats.html Look at Yao. 30 or more points 10 times. 13 or mroe rebounds 17 times. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/yao_ming/game_by_game_stats.html Yao had 2 more ppg. 1 more rpg. Played in more mpg. Played in only 2 less games. Shaq slightly higher blocks, assists, Yao slightly higher steals. Shaq shot better from the field, but Yao destroyed him at the FT line - obviously. What's clear is that stat-wise, they were very very similiar this year. But Yao had more dominating games (high scoring, high rebounding - or both). Shaq's team won more so he goes up there, but, like someone else suggested, neither should have been in the top 10. If you wanted another big-man, you could probably argue for Pau Gasol - not as dominant a rebounder, but has KG's versatility (4.6 apg) and better than advertised defender. You could argue for Shawn Marion. You could argue for Carmelo (even if he may get a little shot-happy sometimes) - weak division or not, he's yet to miss the playoffs.
