Anyone watch? I'm amazed at how well these two teams manage to play each other every year despite one team having a much stronger team. If everyone stays for UNC, they could be looking at another national championship in the next two years. Tyler Hans (FR.) is simply amazing.
Incredible game. I'm actually thinking UNC has a chance to make another championship run this year, which is absolutely incredible given what they had coming back. They're good everywhere. The point guard is steady. Terry is a very good shooter and penetrator. Hansbrough is a force, and Noel has tons of athleticism and experience. They're deep. Every national title contender this year, imo, has an obvious flaw... it's not like North Carolina last year, or Connecticut the year before that, or Kentucky (even though they lost) three years ago where there's an obvious favorite. If Carolina gets the right draw, they're a very formidable force this year and can beat anyone.
I think Carolina will make a good run into the tourny, but I think it may a bit much to talk about a repeat. Next year, with a seasoned Hansb. and the other freshmen (How many are there? 3? 4? more?) they should be looking at whooping up on the ACC. I think the Heels will lose a close one in the tourny bc of freshmen mistakes, like how they lost @UNC vs. Duke last game. To add to that, I hope no one questions Roy's abilities now. He should be up for coach of the year IMO.
roy williams = coach of the year. no question about it. to lose your TOP SIX scorers from the previous year, run 4 freshman in your regular rotation and trot out a top 25 team is amazing. hell, they're better than just "top 25". they are actually a legitimate "great eight" threat. that is incredible coaching.
This doesn't really have anything to do with the actual play of the game, but watching that game made me swear to myself that I will one day go to a Duke-UNC game. The energy is unbelievable.
