Coincidentally, one week after Brown and the Pistons parted ways, Brown's former club offered Darko Milicic to the Atlanta Hawks for Al Harrington. Brown's reluctance to play the unproven second-year forward caused a rift between the coach and Detroit president Joe Dumars. Now it appears the Pistons are willing to trade the second overall pick of the 2003 draft.

I dont know about that rumor. But if true, if I am Atlanta though I jump all over that. They need a C and Darko can play there. Atlanta will be losing Al Harrington at the end of the year anyway so why not get something for him now. They arent going to resign him. They should continue with the youth movement and trade for Darko if they can.

Wow. I'd like to believe that Darko still has great potential, but the Pistons have lost faith in him, which also causes me to lose faith in him.

Even with the championship it has to burn that they didn't grab Mello with that 2nd pick. :D

If there are no other options, maybe, but do you think they can get more than Darko for him? As is, Darko isn't even a productive bench player in the league, much less a starting center. I saw on game with him on NBATV from summer league. Kaman was abusing him right and left. Granted, Kaman maybe a bit underrated as far as centers go, but he's no all-star.

I heard on the radio that Atlanta was the one that actually offered the trade.

Doesn't surprise me. It makes sense for Atlanta. Not so sure it does for Detroit unless they are giving up on Darko. That would be tough for them to swallow though.

But would they have won the ring with either? Prince is important because of his defense, and Melo can't provide that (he is a SF). If they grab Carmelo, do they trade for Sheed?

Hamilton because of his outside shot and midrange game, which Wade doesn't really provide.

Man, to think Detroit drafted Darko rather than Melo or Wade. Granted, you can't argue with success, which owes a lot to Larry Brown and a team that is actually a team.

Detroit seems to have a formidable front line already: The Fro, The Temper, Dice, um, do they still have Elden Campbell?

Getting Al Harrington wouldn't make too much sense for them, as he is a tweener, but "tween" 3 and 4 he's a little more of a 4; and even at the 3, they're covered with Tayshaun.

Harrington's star fell quite a bit last year but it's still a great trade for Detroit if Atlanta is dumb enough to do it. If Dumars can trade Darko for a serviceable player he should swallow his pride and do it. Harrington only has one year left on his contract.

No doubt Wade before Mello.

But at the time no way they take Wade #2 overall.

Actually, because of the championships and runner ups, I don't think they really care. I honestly think Melo may have screwed that team up early on with his arrogance and somewhat "me" attitude.

Can we offer expiring contracts (Spoon, Baker, Moochie) for Darko + filler?

Darko is a bust. Joe Dumars one mistake. If I was Atlanta, I wouldn't trade him for Harrington, Detroit shouldn't get more than Tyrone Liu or a 2nd rounder for the guy.

for starters, they would have still had Prince regardless IMO. and Melo masquerades as a SG/SF and they needed 'Sheed at the 4 spot.

All in all, you can't say that the Pistons DIDN'T blow the pick. At least if they had drafted Wade or Melo, they could have had some bench production or a good 6th man off the bench.

I think the Pistons should trade Darko. It'll be better for both parties.
