Well at least they've avoided the no-hitter in the first inning. They might avoid a shutout if Biggio hits a solo homerun, or maybe Clemens for that matter.

Clemens is the best hitter on the team.

We need to get Roger Clemens into our lineup. I bet he could play first.

ROGER! Clemens just got his 5th hit! He is 5-12 with his at bats this season. WOW. He had a .364 average coming into this game, that just got better.

    UGH Taveras....

Taveras has a terrible eye. He's swinging at all curve balls and whiffing every time. He doesn't know how to take a pitch apparently. Rookie.

Hey, Bill and JD are working the radio side tonight. Anybody know what's going on there? Are Milo and Ash on the TV feed?

Nevermind. Milo and Ash just came on. Sounds like they were having technical difficulties and just ran the TV audio feed over the radio.

Keep in mind the quality of pitcher he's facing.... AJ Burnett throws his curveball faster than most of the AA pitchers' fastballs.

Taveras' transition has been far superior than I could have hoped for. So far.

Project this start from AA ball, add a year or two and WOW! (Assuming a projection is a fair barometer of expectations, of course.)

I agree. Obviously we won't be making the playoffs this year, but if we spend the year getting Taveras and Lane plenty of starts then it at least won't be a year completely wasted. (and Burke. We need Burke getting ML ABs)

I bring in Lidge right here.... 2 outs in the 8th, and who knows when he'll get a better save opportunity than this.

EDIT: Garner goes with Springer instead, after Qualls plunked a batter. Now, its 2 outs, man on 1st... and Russ Springer comes in. Impending damage expected...

    Great win, if not surprising.

You thought he'd be hitting much worse than .257?
