    Thanks for the link.

Man, it'll be sad to see him go. I'll have to get me a new jersey. :(

The Texans are "possibly" willing to give Sharper up for a 4th rounder. Seems like they would like to get a 3rd rounder. That sounds about right.

Do you honestly still believe that somebody is going to fork over a 3rd round pick for somebody who's going to be released otherwise?

I doubt Sharper will be released this offseason since they have no driving force to do so. They want to trade him because they will most likely lose him next offseason if they don't trade him this offseason.

The only way I see them cutting Sharper is someone big wants to sign with Texans or a trade is in the works for a Probowler.

Just because Sharper asks to be cut doesnt mean the Texans have to listen. The Texans will do whats in their best interest, not Sharper's.

Exactly, something like an Orlando Pace or E. James. Otherwise, he will either be traded or remain on the Texans.

houstonprofootball.com has an article about E. James and his agent claims that the Texans have interest in him. It also said that D.Davis is in the final year of his contract and will look for a big time deal after this season.

That is interesting!! Davis has had 2 great 2nd haves to his first 2 season. He hasn't put together a solid season either season. If he can have a solid season this year, then he deserves a bigger contract. But, he hasn't shown he is an elite running back for a full season. He's getting there, but let's see what happens this year. Hopefully he reinforces our thinking that he IS.

Well they're not going to re-structure his deal, and they don't seem like they want to pay him 6m a season, so draw your own conclusion.

Again, why would any team pay a 3rd round pick for a player that is making 6m, is 31 years old, plays in a low priority position, and is likely to be had for free soon?

    they released Foreman...

I really don't understand these moves, it isn't like we have a lot of depth at LB, if we're going to start a rookie this year (via draft) and Babin as half our LB corp, I dunno how the Texans can seriously consider themselves a playoff condending team. Sharper/Foreman/Wong have all been disapointing sure, but who is going to replace them?

    Foreman granted release by Texans

Jay Foreman was granted his release - not to mention his wish - during a meeting with Texans coach Dom Capers early Monday morning.

Foreman and fellow inside linebacker Jamie Sharper asked to be released last week, approximately a week after the team gave both players permission to seek a trade. Sharper still is in limbo and could remain that way until after next month's draft, but Foreman is free to negotiate with any team in the league.

"I respect the fact they didn't string me along," Foreman said. "Whether this works out for them or for me, only time will tell. I know what I can do on the field. I know the return on their investment is way better than the return they've gotten on some of their other investments."

The Texans signed Foreman to a five-year, $12 million contract after the 2002 season. Foreman will count $1.32 million against the 2005 salary cap, but considering he was scheduled for a $2.21 million cap hit, Monday's move will save the Texans $890,000.

"When you know how good a player you are, and your teammates know how good a player you are, and then all of sudden it doesn't mean anything, that hurts," Foreman said. "But it's a business, and sometimes this is how things go in the NFL. I'm not going to let it get to me. I know I'm a good player, so it should all work out."

Foreman finished first or second in tackles each of his three seasons with the Texans, who acquired him from Buffalo in exchange for return specialist Charlie Rogers in 2002. Despite missing the final five games of last season because of an ankle injury, Foreman trailed only Sharper in tackles.

"I'm on the downside of my rehab now," Foreman said. "I'm generally a quick healer. I'm going to start running next week. Now that (the release) is official, we'll see which teams are really interested. I just want to get into the right situation. My career is not over."

well wong is still here and they signed greenwood to replace sharper... you can draft lb's or possibly sign some foreman was not that good of a linebacker.

Also if moving sharper helps me get Pace then ship him out.

A little something about Sharper from Len Pasquarelli...

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=2021162&num=6

"Those teams (like Cincinnati) waiting for the Houston Texans to simply release veteran linebacker Jamie Sharper might turn blue holding their breath. Yeah, Texans officials have granted Sharper permission to seek possible trade scenarios. No, the Texans won't just give Sharper away. In fact, they might hang on to the eight-year veteran until after the draft, if necessary, because they want something in return for him. Sharper is still a productive, if somewhat limited, defender. He still makes plays against the run and led the Texans in tackles -- his 177 stops were 75 more than the Houston runner-up -- in 2004. Some team would be wise to surrender a middle-round draft choice now for Sharper so that he could participate in minicamps."

At this point, I would take a 4th rounder for Sharper. A 3rd would be nice.

I feel bad for Sharper being put into this situation. The way he is handling it really shows what a class act he is.

Greenwood must be alot better than i originally thought considering Sharper by far lead the team in tackles.

Odd...I would never have called Jamie Sharper "somewhat limited" in defense.
