The Cubs lose a game to get to 70 loses, and the Giants don't lose a game, and the Dodgers only lose the 3 to the Giants.

Then both the Giants and Dodgers have 69 loses, and the Cubs and the Stros are out of it.

That would suck! So would that make the Dodgers the WC winner?

They would have to go by head-to-head. Whoever leads their season series gets the Division and the other gets the WC

I respectfully disagree. While this certainly wouldn't be a good outcome, it is definitely not the worst case scenario as the Cubs also miss the playoffs. Any scenario with the Cubs making the playoffs would be the worst case scenario - the only way it would get any worse after that would be if either the Cardinals or Yankees win the World Series thereafter.

    LOL...

We really need a loss by the Giants or the Dodgers BEFORE they face each other, that would gaurantee one would have at least 70 losses.

I think we all know we're pretty much S.O.L. if the Giants win out.

    RM95,

Not if the Dodgers lose one BEFORE the final series. If they lose tonight or tomorrow night.

the giants have 70 losses now, and the dodgers lost as well.

what is the worst case now?

The worst case is we lose all of our next 3 ... We don't have to worry about anyone else anymore if we can win out. It's all in the Astros hands now.

That is exactly what worries me. We play great with our backs to the wall against good clubs in a dark tunnel.

However, that has changed somewhat. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Now if we win out til Oct. 6, we will get to play on that day. The Giants play 1 at SD & 3 at LA. If the Giants win all 4, then they win the West & LA is tied with the Stros. If they don't sweep, they loose the West & wild card. The Cubs play 4 games at Wriggley. 1 more with Cincy(can't you hear Frankie Valley singing "Lightning Strikes Me Again") and 3 with Atlanta. The Braves will want to beat the Cubs now so they can play the Stros(whom they own in the playoffs) instead of the Cubs(who beat them in last years playoffs) in the this years playoffs.

We have 3 at MMP with the Rockies. They are out of it and will probably be throwing 2 lefty starters(1 we haven't faced before) at us. Historically, we are 0 for a million in that senerio.

I got an ulser just typing this. :(
