Yeah those of you comparing this guy to Nash and other great pgs are ignoring Reed’s strengths. IMO he can be a better version of JJ Reddick. Reed is a better athlete than Reddick and a much better passer. Overall Reed’s ability to put the ball on the floor seems limited at the NBA level because his lateral movement isn’t very impressive. That said, he can be a great off the ball player due to his high IQ and Shooting. My two cents…
Rewatching this video, at around the 19:07 mark I think, there is a defensive play where Sheppard is on baseline, but their opponent hits an open man and his teammate stays with his man in the paint vs switching. Shep jumps around the two players and bodies up the bigger opponent (in a flash I might add). The player sees a small man on him and tries to shoot a 10fter, but Shep blocks it. He's got amazing hand-eye coordination and always keeps an eye on the ball. His awareness and anticipation are really exceptional.
Yeah, the last section of that tape had a few really good defensive steals and blocks. You"re right. He has great awareness and anticipation.

Sheppard is gonna be there at #3. If Sarr and/or Risacher are somehow also there, and we take one of them, I can live with that. But absent that I’m gonna be very disappointed if we don’t draft Sheppard.
Using unicorn players as a shield to defend an inflated opinion of rookie prospects is so worn out. Just keep being you. I remember the V-Span lunatics who compared him to Nash. That was not good period here.
reed is twice as quick as jimmer reed is all over the court reed is a defensive disruptor reed is john stockton with better shooting
