Right - but the hatred is only one sided apparently, so I have heard.

The most diehard Zionists believe that this is their land given to them by their God. Anyone else living on it is an afterthought. Unfortunately the diehards have the most influence in Israeli politics right now.

This just highlights how warped some Israeli's are on this topic. They are shocked that the rest of the world believes that they have committed human rights violations against the displaced Palestinians, and do not support their romp through Gaza tearing it down - yet they believe **** like this is acceptable.

No doubt Hamas is disgusting, and there are mentally indoctrinated Palestinians - but none of them are on social media or television crying about how the world unfairly hates Hamas.

Bad actors are bad actors, regardless of what side you favor.... and there are some really bad people on both sides of this issue.

The extremists in Israel are on the fringe, whereas the extremists are mainstream in Gaza.

Not the same, not a "both sides" thing.

Even UNRWA has bad actors but at this point how do you make a distinction between the UN which we are suppose to believe and Hamas which seems to be so tightly integrated?

I truly believe that the more a side feels like it is losing, the more it will behave like it has nothing to lose. If by some act of fate in 20 years from now the Israeli government has failed and the Palestinians become the dominant power in this dynamic, the Palestinians would be like the Israelis and strongly promote the status quo while the Israelis would be more militant (eg resorting to terrorism) to re-achieve their position.

Irgun was by all definitions a terrorist organization whose mission was an independent Jewish state when it was the British who were bucking at the idea. But the Irgun is not needed today.

Netanyahu and Likud have catered a lot to both settlers and extremely groups in Israel. They couldn't maintain their coalition without them.

From what I've heard is that Hamas does actually have a pretty sophisticated social media presence and produces a lot of propaganda. We don't see a lot of this here because even though some claim this site is overrun by Leftist Palestinian sympathizers this site doesn't lean pro Hamas or Islamist. We do know that groups like Hamas and the Islamic state were very successful getting their message out and recruiting using social media.

Make no mistake - Hamas and separately the plight of Palestine has become very effective at representing their cause in a variety of ways, including social media. Palestinians have largely been ineffective piercing Washington DC, but they have been effective in colleges, especially prominent colleges in the USA, and they have a social media presence in some far left-wing circles and in Muslim circles. However - in general terms, in mainstream thought and social media, they have less influence.

Mainstream American thought no but the impression I got is that they are more successful in Western Europe and other parts of the World.

My main point though was that Hamas does produce a lot of propaganda that also is about victimization and obviously paints themselves as the brave heroes fighting the oppressors.

Hamas is well funded because nation-states directly and indirectly fund them. It’s all a game for the supporters and it’s not actually about the Palestinians.
