I'm split between Sheppard, Clingan and Risacher. I'm hoping the Rockets find a way to get 2 of those 3 somehow. With the way Jalen put it on the Wizards a few months ago (42 pts) I'm sure they would be very intrigued by picking him up for that 2nd pick. I'm just really, really tired of Green. 3 years is too much as a fan.
yeah, especially in this day and age it's becoming increasingly harder to make an impact if you are a "short" 6'3" - see TyTy Washington who has torn up every other league he has played in(suggesting he is a really good player) but who has hardly made any impact on the NBA level. Its one thing if you draft the 6'3" guy who is really 6'1"(who is really 5'11.5" barefoot) at the end of the draft...but if you draft that guy with the 3rd pick and it turns out he isn't playable....that's $10mil for a rookie contract you can't move. It's an unusual type of risk. I saw Jalen Brunson up close not too long ago and he is a legit 6'2" despite looking like a midget out there.
What rule? You know half of the teams still in the playoffs this year have a starting PG shorter than 6'3.
These size queens man. The average height of an NBA point guard is literally 6’2.5 … One of our best players is literally under 6’0 and his backup is right on 6’0… Someone go tell CP3, AI, Nash, Steph, Kyrie, Brunson, Lillard, Morant, Maxey, Donovan Mitchell, Trae, Garland, Conley, Rozier, Lowry, Fox, Westbrook, Rose, Eric Gordon, Simmons, Cam Thomas etc etc they are too small to be effective … Clowns bruh.
If Topic drops due to injury then you draft and stash him for a year. Let him heal, get stronger, learn the nba game. 6'6 and 6'7 backcourt will be nice!
The thing about Castle is he’s actually good at some tangible skills (defense, off ball cutting, driving) while some of the other wing prospects could theoretically have skills but none of them are actually good yet
I’m scared of drafting Reed Shepard, for some reason he reminds me of Jimmer Fredette. As of right now id love to add Donovan Clingan as I feel it would just be a safe pick.
What I am trying to figure out is if the Rockets have guys that some are trying to figure out how to pay then what is wrong with getting a high end role player that fills a giant need on the team? If 3-4 players end up being a better than Reed how would you pay him and everyone else? Even if he is better how much better would he be than say Amen/Cam/Sengun if at all? The only way I think you could argue against is is if you get a player that is better/higher ceiling etc is if you think you are going to recoup value by trading say 3 players and consolidating for a true top 10 player. I dunno
Going further point guards 6'3" and under have played almost 80% of the total point guard minutes since 2015. https://www.thehoopsgeek.com/average-nba-height/
Steph measured in at 6-2 without shoes. Donovan Mitchell was 6-1.25. Reed Sheppard will be a better defender than both. He'll also be able to learn from FVV.
Reminds me more of mix between Bob Sura, Jon Barry, Brent Barry and Pablo Prigioni with a hint of Austin Reaves to me, and 50% of Shane Battier.
