I would like to snag Jamal Shead in the second round instead.

If you squint really hard they do look kind of similar, they even have the same head. Edey needs to add a turnaround J. Also probably not a good thing he moves like 300lb+ Yao already and not rookie Yao.

I don't think Offense is an issue
I think Back to the Basket game seems very strong

If he can do some face up mid range or the occassional 3
But I don't think that is a deal breaker
I think he should be a nice 2nd rounder

    The biggest issue is DEFENSE
Scoring 20 but giving up 40 ain't good.

He's a guy teams should gamble with late first/early second round pick.

I the claim that modern NBA is small ball is not so modern anymore.
See Wolves with twin towers, Chet, Wemby, and of course Jokic nobody seems to have an answer.

Teams that have a 7-4 big who can defend can at least try to counter the new guys.

Maybe. Bruisers also have room in a winning team as a sub.

You keep forgetting that the rookies still are developing and growing

you don’t want to be the gm to not get Luka because you don’t like his country and get whatever that dude is from duke

Honestly I think the SWITCH EVERYTHING defense
Was about stopping the Warriors. I think Drop Coverage (like the Bucks use)
maybe sufficient -- No one is saying Brooke Lopez is speedy gonzales
So I think defensively that should be ok

There are not 20 Stephs / Klay combos in the league

I hope we somehow end up with him for low cost purely for sentimental value. I’d like us to have a 7’3+ player at all times for morale purposes.

Most of you all here care nothing about winning. Only gathering up as many likable players and pics as possible.

So everyone is talking about Reed Sheppard's vert but to me the biggest winner of combine is actually Zach Edey.

Edey was faster than Donovan Clingan in sprint
Edey was quicker than Sarr in agility drills
Edey shot 14/25 from 3 in spot up shooting drill (!!!)

Edey is legit 7'3 without shoes and 7'9 wingspan

Maybe Imanimal is on to something. I wouldn't mind a trade down and get Edey+someone else like Cody Williams or Tidjane Salaun.

Thought he shot the 3 ball well in the combine

I know Edey's defense is sketchy, but I'm having a hard time seeing Clingan as a potential top 3 and Edey way down as a late first. Seems to be a huge amount of variance there. Is Edey's defense really THAT bad? Dude has an 8 foot wingspan!

Lol I find it amusing that people here think he is a Top 9 pick while the experts had him at low 1st and 2nd rounder.

Would be fun if he pans out though.....

The experts didn't really have Edeys combine measurements to go off before.

The same thing happened to Jalen Williams he only shot up draft boards after the combine.

I think Edey showed he isn't as slow as people thought he was and he has at least some stretch potential. That's Def got to raise eyebrows.

Congrats, so didn't respond to a single point I made or answer any of my questions.

Instead you just gave a generic answer that would apply to any player in the draft.

Sure, some players out perform their draft expectations. I thing every single person on this board knows that.

I posed some specific concerns about Edey and you've ignored them.

You've even ignored the questions that aren't specific to Edey. Why are you focusing on trying to improve things the Rockets already do well? Doesn't it make more sense to improve the areas where we are weak? I understand that you thought that the Rockrts were a poor rebounding team, but now that you know that they aren't, what problem is a guy like Edey solving for them?
