My understanding is their front office losing influence (for whatever reason) and Belichick gaining influence is why their drafting success declined over the years. Belichick's one-man, iron fisted control of an organization is a dead concept in the NFL. Losing staff is part of running a successful organization. The Texans need to keep Caserio at the top.
The bald dude says at the end "I'm not saying it's right or wrong" but his whole tone is clearly one of criticism that the Texans have gone all in so quickly with their window just opening. It seems like such a bizarre complaint. "You tried to get really good too fast! You should have paid your dues and lost to the Chiefs in the conference championship game a year or two before you really go all in!" Why? What the hell does it accomplish to go slow when you know you have your QB? I'm glad they aren't waiting.
Also, none of these “all in too quickly” moves actually hurt our window. Those contracts are all up before we have to pay stroud, so we can also build up in the next couple years as well. It’s insane how good we have gotten (on paper) with the ability to spend and get better each year after as well.
They say CJ will regress because they are in baseball mode without recognizing almost all QBs have a subpar first season while in NFL mode. Just imagine if 2023 is CJ's subpar first season! I can't because I can't imagine him getting better than last year other than playing without concussions or @ NJJs players killing field.
Whoa!!! If Ryan Clark brings it like this all season, he'll be at the top of the food chain for NFL talking heads.
She said "Stefon Dicks". Could have been a freudian slip of what she really thinks of the guy, or a freudian slip of what she was hoping for later...or just a slip. Whichever way, I enjoyed hearing it.
They rate by how close the team matches their narrative of what is supposed to happen. So no matter how innovative a front office is, it will be downgraded because it deviates from their narrative.
