•Washington favored positional size and upside in Frenchman Bilal Coulibaly with the No. 7 pick in the 2023 draft and could pair him with another fellow countryman if projected No. 1 pick Alex Sarr remains on the board or go with forward Zaccharie Risacher at No. 2 overall. Another candidate could include Nikola Topic if the front office wants to invest in a point guard of the future, with Tyus Jones entering unrestricted free agency this summer and expected to draw significant interest on the market. Forward Cody Williams is also another player some scouts and executives would take near the top of the draft, given his high floor and potential ceiling.

•After vaulting up six spots in the lottery and landing the No. 3 overall pick in the draft, the Houston Rockets can now trade as many as five first-round picks this offseason in a package to land a star player. Houston pursued an upgrade in Brooklyn Nets forward Mikal Bridges before the trade deadline, as first reported by HoopsHype, and league sources expect Rockets executive Rafael Stone to be active on the trade market again leading up to the draft.

•Reed Sheppard is a name to keep an eye on for the Spurs in the draft along with Nikola Topic if he’s still on the board.

•G League Ignite prospect Matas Buzelis is a notable candidate for the Pistons at No. 5 overall if he’s still on the board due to his playmaking as a secondary ball handler, positional size, outside shooting potential, and shot blocking. It’s worth noting Buzelis is represented by Michael Tellem of Excel Sports, son of Pistons Vice Chairman Arn Tellem.

•UConn’s Stephon Castle is among the early contenders for Charlotte’s selection. Castle would provide defense to a team that sorely lacks in that department and take pressure off Ball as the primary ball handler.

•Dalton Knecht or Ja’Kobe Walter could make sense for Portland at either the No. 7 or No. 14 picks.

•(8) Several candidates could make sense for San Antonio here, including Rob Dillingham, Cody Williams, and Ron Holland.

•Memphis wants to add at least one big man to its rotation this offseason. If UConn’s Donovan Clingan is still on the board, he’d be an ideal fit to allow Jaren Jackson Jr. to slide over to power forward and help him stay out of foul trouble. If Clingan is off the board, G League Ignite prospect Ron Holland embodies the throwback “Grit and Grind” defensive mentality, which was previously a staple of the organization.

•If Ainge can’t find a suitable deal, a name to keep an eye on is Tennessee’s Dalton Knecht, the reigning SEC Player of the Year, who’s ready to contribute immediately at 23 years old and can stretch the floor well. Ainge has several potential items on his offseason agenda list, including discussing a potential renegotiation and extension with Lauri Markkanen and potentially exploring the trade market for John Collins.

•The Chicago Bulls remained with the No. 11 spot and could land a potential rotation player at that spot, including Isaiah Collier or Dalton Knecht, if either player is still on the board.

•Oklahoma City could use frontcourt depth, and prospects such as center Yves Missi and forwards Tyler Smith and Tidjane Salaun could be in play for the Thunder.

•With Malik Monk set to enter unrestricted free agency and potentially price himself out of Sacramento, the Kings could look at several guards here, including Duke’s sharpshooter Jared McCain and Providence’s stout defender and emerging offensive threat Devin Carter.
