I keep going back and forth on this. Smith at 3, Sengun at 4, and Clingan at 5 provides incredible length, but can they create enough spacing? Thoughts on this potential pairing?

I think Clingan is a first big off the bench type player honestly

Yes, if either one of them develops a respectable 3 point shot.

No, unless it's for specific match ups (Gobert + Towns) and very limited minutes.

Clingan can't switch and can't shoot 3s. It's hard already to have 2 non-shooters on the floor (unless 1 of Amen/Sengun starts to shoot well). You definitely can't have 3 non-shooters at the same time. I put this in the other thread, but I think I'll post it here.

"I like Clingan, but not at #3. Low value proposition and poor allocation of assets. How much is he better than these below who were taken outside of the lottery? This is only for the past 6 drafts.

    Walker Kessler - Pick #22
    Mark Williams - #15
    Nic Claxton - #31
    Daniel Gafford - #38
    Robert Williams - #27
    Jarrett Allen #22

This is not even including Clint Capela (who can be had to cheap), Mitchell Robinson was #36 (not as good), and I'm sure I forgot several others. You can draft them later or trade for one using a mid to late first rounder. Daniel Gafford was traded for a 2028 swap (which turned into Thunder 24 pick) to Wizards.

Basically drafting Clingan at #3 is a huge waste of resources. He can't shoot the 3 and he can't switch, so it's hard to play him with Sengun and/or Amen."

I don’t Clingan and Sengun can play together, even if Sengun develops a shot. But I do think Clingan is one of the few sure thing prospects in this draft and he’s going to be a DPY guy.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. I know Clingan can man the Center position like a boss on the defensive side; I am not too aware of his offensive game.

Sengun at the PF is interesting, but can he keep up with the PF who are faster than your general center?

I could see a Jabari Smith fitting quite nicely at SF, he is developing a sharpshooters shot, is a defensive savant, and has extremely high IQ; my only concern is would he be able to keep up with the SF of the NBA?

I am intrigued by the idea, but to be honest I don’t know the peripherals of moving Sengune and Jabari Smith to different positions? But I’m sure the Rockets will do their due diligence to figure out if the front court could work with Clingan.

No, I don't think so. Clingan is a traditional drop coverage type of guy. Sengun isn't quick enough to guard modern power fowards, who are more like slightly-larger small forwards. I think Clingan would strictly be a backup center for us. Kind of underwhelming for the 3rd overall pick, though I suppose I wouldn't hate it because he'd probably be one of the best backups in the league, and depth is important.

a frontcourt of mostly non-shooters and non-floor spacers in 2024

    yeah, that’ll work

Well they didn’t think it would work on stark trek for decades but things change.

Don’t know about Clinton but Jabari at 3 with amen on the floor won’t work either.

They cannot play together. Doesn't work on either end of the floor.

We don't need Clingan we already have a Klingon at home?

I like Clingan but no, I don’t see it working with Sengun. And definitely not when you factor in potentially Amen and Jalen with them.

We don't even know if Sengun + Amen can work... now people want to do Sengun + Clingan + Amen?

You can't have a good NBA offense with more than 1 player on the court who isn't respected at the three point line. It's not controversial.

Clingan is like Brook Lopez, except he'll have that extended range at a much younger age.

How does KAT and Gobert playing together have any relevance for Clingan and Sengun playing together.

KAT shoots 41.6% from behind the arc and both T-Wolves bigs can switch on screens.

I'm not seeing anything comparable between the two pairs.
