The Saudis have their own interests. They were already ready to throw the Palestinian cause under the bus. It’s now a political issue for them, but not much more than that. The US does have leverage to influence Saudi Arabia to align with its interests. Those who believe Trump won’t be harmful are mistaken; under his administration, such leverage would be nonexistent, as Trump prioritizes his own interests over those of the US, relegating the country’s interests to a distant 2nd place. Rationalizing this (Trump interest will align with US interest or he will be held in check some other way) is a dangerous gamble.

So these ****s destroy the homes which have been there for generations, then Israel decided they were illegal. Israel being the magnanimous mensches they are said they would build new homes for the Bedouins in an area of Israel's choosing. Yet they destroyed the homes before they had even started construction on the new homes. People wonder why Israel is hated by people who live there? It is because of **** like this. Not because they are Jews. It is because they steal and destroy people's houses. Homes where the people have lived for generations. Do I understand why these people may support Hamas? Yep. The people who are trying to destroy the people who are actively destroying your lives ? Is Hamas right for doing the things they have done? Absolutely not. Israel created these people. "The government has plans to set aside housing for the residents in a new neighborhood in the nearby village of Umm Batin But residents have refused to move there and argued that that it would endanger them, citing threats from other families that intend to live there. The Abu Assa family petitioned the High Court stating they were instead willing to move to another city, Tel Sheva. The High Court recently decided unanimously that the government had done all it could to accommodate the residents, and that construction of alternative housing in Tel Sheva would delay work on Route 6 for two years. However, work on the new homes in Umm Batin has not even begun yet"
The Biden administration also has likely given Israel more aid than any other administration in the same amount of time. Even now they are still giving aid in terms of defensive weapons and other aid. in the meantime aid for Israel was held up for months by Congressional Republicans.
Biden's withholding of bombs and artillery shells to Israel is one of the worst foreign policy moves since 1) The botched Afghanistan withdrawal; and 2) The unnecessary provocation of Russia which led to their invasion of Ukraine. Every foreign policy instinct Biden has is wrong, and the world is on fire as a result. Biden has shamefully betrayed Israel. But the withholding of vital military supplies to our ally, Israel, has done the following: Emboldened Hamas, who now has a safe place to reconstitute itself in Rafah Puts Israeli hostages further at risk and makes a hostage deal unlikely The negotiators left Cairo within hours of Biden's announcement Makes the Middle East far more dangerous -- Hezbollah is watching too Doesn't solve Biden's massive political problem at home... trying to play both sides Biden is facilitating a slaughter of historic proportions. The man must be replaced quickly before even further global damage is done.
US: Don't bomb Rafah. Israel: You can't tell us what to do! US: Don't bomb Rafah. Israel: We will do what we want! US: Don't bomb Rafah. Israel: We bombed Rafah! US: We are halting future sales of offensive weapons so they cannot be used in Rafah. Israel: You are Hamas.
I'm proposing 1) Finding a path to settling the conflict in Ukraine because the war is unwinnable; and 2) Supporting our ally in Israel against a terrorist organization (Hamas). Pretty simple, really.
Are we not doing 2? We just gave them $26 billion in aid. We ran hundreds of sorties over Jordan to shoot down the Iranian missiles. We have ships in the Red Sea targeting the Houthis and shooting down their drones/missiles. We just told Bibi to not invade Rafah. Because at the moment, the Gazans are compressed into Rafah and Gaza is in famine. There is no where to go for the Gazans. Hamas is neutered. Destroying Rafah will not destroy Hamas. Israel does not need any additional US arms to proceed with its campaign in Rafah. Israel is not fighting against a peer. They're not even fighting against a military force like hezbollah. They're just planning to bomb Rafah to ensure the destruction of Gaza is complete.
@AroundTheWorld that's literally what this dipshit is saying in this thread Biden folks have demanded a evacuation route for the 1.4 million since FEBRUARY. What's so difficult about understanding that isrsel needs to properly evacuate 1.4 million people before they invade the town. You right wingers are such disingenuous losers
Israel strikes eastern Rafah as ceasefire talks end with no deal https://www.reuters.com/world/middl...jeopardise-weapons-supply-assault-2024-05-09/ "If we must, we shall fight with our fingernails," Netanyahu said in a video statement. "But we have much more than our fingernails." Rafah's tent city.
