I disagree, that trio would not have worked with personalities and play styles clashing.

Why not? Those great rockets teams in that 2-3 year window had Ariza or Gordon at the 3. Jimmy can post. He can play iso at the elbows. He can screen for guards and roll or pick and pop. He can shoot from the wings or corner 3 when CP3 kicks out. He plays great defense.

Please do not bring "Prince" to the Rockets.

i havent been too keen on him in the past - given the fallout surrounding his previous stints... but he seems to have it a bit more together....

at this point, i might be down for a 2 or maybe 3 yr deal... but not interested in anything beyond that...

Rival Teams Think Sixers Could Trade For Jimmy Butler

Jimmy Butler reportedly wants an extension from the Miami Heat this offseason. Butler has two years remaining on his current deal, including a player option for 2025-26. It's unknown where the Heat stand on adding even more guaranteed money to their payroll moving forward. Butler will turn 35 years old ahead of next season and missed the Heat's first-round series loss to the Boston Celtics due to a knee injury.

If the Heat balk at extending Butler, rival teams believe the Philadelphia 76ers could attempt to swing a trade for the veteran wing. The Sixers project to have more than $60 million in cap space this summer. Daryl Morey will be seeking to fill out the roster around Joel Embiid and re-sign Tyrese Maxey.

I can see Jimmy at Philly. Butler's past: Simmons is gone (and Tobias likely as well).

Maxey (guard), Butler (wing), Embiid (center), that fits.

If I were the Heat, I would not extend him. He's been great, but he is also old.

Perhaps I’m wrong, but that entire press conference felt like a precursor to major changes with the Heat.

Or Paul and Butler might have helped Harden focus. Who knows? More importantly, EG coming off the bench might have kept everyone more healthy (Gerald Green, Austin Rivers and Danuel freakin' House logged the most minutes from the bench that season).

Ariza was gone before 2018-2019 (when Butler became available). The starting 5 would have been Paul-Harden-Butler-Tucker-Capela with EG as sixth man.

Well, Morey offered 4 first rounders for Butler back in the days...

My point was that they never had a good 3 in that 2-3 year window. Ariza was limited offensively and Gordon was a 2 playing 3 and was undersized. Butler would have filled that gap.
