If 33 PAs is enough of a sample size to judge, I'm not sure why 14 would be so outrageous. Pretty sure people were criticizing Maldy at 14 ABs too, but is there a cutoff somewhere in between? Both are stupid sample sizes, but that's the data I was responding to. That said, with the data we actually have, Maldy got on base 9 times in 33 PAs. Diaz got on 1 time in 14. Somehow I doubt that if Diaz got an additional 19 ABs, he would have gotten on base 8 more times (42%) to be better at not-clogging-the-bases by getting on instead of just simply not getting on base. Well, that and all his star pitchers insisted on pitching to Maldy. But yeah, I'm sure it was all Dusty just hating him. Kind of like Chaz didn't play every day because Dusty hated him - he's done so well when he was handed the job and gets to play every day. It couldn't be that Dusty knew how and when to use players to get the best out of them. I'm sure it's just coincidence that the people that fans clamored to play more are playing worse when they get to play more.
Why oh why are a few here still bringing up two souls that are long gone and aren’t coming back? Just let it go. The rest of us have moved on, it would be an adult characteristic for them to do the same. No one gives a ****, move on, FFS write a letter to the front office or tweet at them but stop crying on these threads….
Julks and Abreu definitely got better by playing more... Mark Prior too. Nook already debunked the pitcher's "insisting" theory -- they just preferred Maldonado. It seems foolish to NEVER give another guy a chance especially when that guy was performing better than the first option... but Dusty had no problem switching Diaz with Maldy for France and every other pitcher Yainer was catching. There was a weird romance between Baker and Martin.
Hunter Brown has done nothing to instill confidence in the faithful when he has taken the mound this season. In fact, I barely understand how he’s hung on to a spot in the starting rotation. Go Stros’
Hunter has been one of the worst SP in the majors. No real reason to think he'll all of sudden turn it around today.
I would switch Bregman and Diaz in the lineup until he figures it out…have a feeling it’s going to be a shootout today, with Loperfido getting his first HR.
Is Alvarez? We really need him to get going again. His average shouldn’t be down there with singletons
